epson printers

my 3 month old dell printer has stopped working and has brought up a message that it needs to be serviced ,ive contacted epson in ashton manchester who say the printers have a counter built into the programme ,so when you print xxx amount of pages it shuts down.they have told me it needs new pads fitting?????.the pads are not covered under warranty as they are a consumable item"on a printer" but the labour to fit them is free..so £13 to fix a printer that is under warranty..they have said i must have used the printer 24 hours a day to lock the counter but they wont tell me what the counter lock limit is..

Never heard of that one before, how many dozens of cartridges did you get through.
Did you ask what these pads do?

epson

the pads are some sort of paper guide
about 20 sets of ink i think

i thought dell printers were being given away in christmas crackers ?

arent they so cheap its almost a disposable item now ?

I got a free printer with my Dell computer a few months ago. Once the ink ran out I worked out it was cheaper to buy another (better) printer than replace the Dell cartridges which were going to cost £50 for one colour and one black cartridge.

I got an Epson photo printer for £80 which uses 6 separate cartridges. I can get 3 full cartridge sets for £30. :bannana:

The pads will be either paper feed seperators or waste ink pads. Most printers are considered BER once the ink pads are full.

From a cost point of veiw you would be better to buy a laser printer for the volume you are putting through it.
