After the problems I've been having I checked the MOT certifcate park royal gave me and checked the full mot notice online. And guess what i found

Advisory Notice issued

Offside Rear Direction indicators slightly discoloured (1.4.A.2d)

Offside Inner Rear Road wheel with a slightly distorted bead rim (4.2.A.1a)

Offside rear tyre outer sidewall slight damage

This is the one that bothers me the most and the fact that they tried to hide this from me really ****es me off. what should i do.

This may also explain the whining sound Ive been hearing from the rear side of the car.
Any advice on what i should do.

I very much doubt that the slight damage to the outer tyre wall will cause a whining noise......remember its an advisory and not a fail, so whatever has been picked up is not that serious.

Having seen this comment on more MOT slips than I care to think about, I suspect that it will be a slight tear to the thick beading that protects the tyre wall from curbing or the tyre has a small nick in it, neither of which is a major issue....if it was it would have failed.

Seeing as the rear tyre with the sidwall comment is also the wheel that has minor damage to the outer beading, I would suspect that the wheel has been curbed or been down a pothole, but again this is common.

How did they hide damage to the outer sidewall from you ?

the fact of the matter is they never even informed me the MOT had any advisory notices. That coupled with the fact that I have had numerous problems with the car since I bought it ie squealing brakes, noisy sunroof and now steering seems to really annoy me especially as I have only had the car for 5 weeks. Also every time I try to contact them the stealers hardly ever get back to me until I pester them 12 times a day. Coupled with the fact that mb park royal wasted my whole day yesterday from 10am-5pm only to tell me that they hadn't even touched my car grinds my gears to no end.

Jesus, that's nothing!

I think you're looking for a molehill to make a mountain out of, or simply have buyers remorse!

What do you want them to do? Understandably I can understand your frustration at not getting your car looked at, did they offer you a courtesy car or collection of vehicle?

nope they did not offer any of those either. And I have no trace of buyers remorse. When i pay 12000 for a car I would like to think I will get good service along with it.

I had a whining noise from the rear of my Mondeo, admittedly it is not a Mercedes. The Ford garage said that the N/S/R suspension trailing arm bush showed signs of wear. I had both the near and offside replaced. Whining has disappeared for now over 1,000 miles.

It's a 5 year old car that's been driven the equivalent of once around the world.

If you expect a car to be like new then you have to actually buy a new one.

i didn't realise 25.000 miles on the clock was considered alot when my dads 52 plate car has nearly triple the mileage and has none of the problems.

When you were given the MOT certificate there is a part on it that says ' advisory issued' if there is one then you should have a 'Y' in the box and the attached sheet should be with it.

Was this not the case?

Where is the car now are they looking at it for you.

yes it does however there is no note. I have a car and have booked it into another MB dealer as I have lost faith in Park royal.

They are supposed to give the advisory notice ( if applicable ) to you along with the certificate .

If you did not get this - ask why - or , if you want to take it further , complain to VOSA .

Perhaps the cause of the whining noise has caused the damage to the tyre..?

Possibly whatever caused the wheel/tyre damage has also damaged the wheel bearing - the most likely cause of the whine.

I would investigate that and rectify if necessary.

Just put it down to the battle scars that cars endure. New ones often come with teething troubles!

thanks for the informative help bellow and to the other users who replied. Any idea what could be wrong with the steering?

Just tell them you feel like they have concealed the advisories from you and if you was made aware of them before making the deal, you would have further negotiated on price. Tell them you intend seeking advice from VOSA.

You pay a premium when buying from a dealer and that premium is for peace of mind.

The steering maybe normal. You just may have to get used to it. MB's generally have much stiffer steering than other cars. eg Jap cars are very light.

What make of tyres are fitted to the back? Are they cheapo's?

Sorry, can't say more re steering - beyond mentioning if a rear wheel has taken a knock, an alignment check could be worthwhile. It's not unknown for rear wheel steer effects to be felt via the steering.

Better to start a new thread with all the details. Chances are someone will have some useful info. And as mentioned in another post, might liberate a discount from dealer if something is highlighted that they should have known about or informed you of.
