Diesel engine plug in tuning?

I too would like to know more about these devices.
Half of me says they wont perform as is claimed and half of me says they must work otherwise they would have gone out of business by now.
If they do work but do they lead to problems?
Is there a Mercedes certified version?
Or can Mercedes electronically tune an engine themselves?

I think what I'd like to find out is about warranty issues. I'm taking delivery of a new C250 this week and I'd like to find out more about these devices.

I had a plug in tuning device on my E350 cost me around £90 it definitely made a difference more power and better fuel consumption. But at the back of my mind was is this thing harming my car used it for about 12 months before deciding to get an ECU remap. Other thing that worried me was I did not inform my insurance company so if had a accident it was easy to see an suspect my insurance would have been void. The proper ECU remap is better power wise but not fuel economy wise in my case This is the plug in one I had takes less than 5 minutes to fit

bluespark claim their box doesn't increase fuel rail pressure , which causes premature injector failure . cr tech 2 would be my choice for a gentle increase .

I had the boxes in the original post on my scirocco and the wife's Tiguan and it put my scirocco into limp mode a few times so took it off and had a remap, tiguan went into limp mode too causing issues with the bluemotion sensor which was replaced on warranty after I took the box off to take it into the dealers. Personally I'd never use one again but other swear by them and have never had issues.

oil burner plug ins

Hi, I have only ever had one oil burner car. A VW Phaeton. I had a 'Tunit' unit fitted.
They use factory fitted plugs so there is no risk of damaging the plugs on your car. It was user adjustable for power or economy.
I found it worked very well. You can see all the units and what they fit on their web site.
If you change cars, and the unit won't fit the new car, they will take the old unit in part ex, or if suitable sell you a set of new leads.
they offer a fitting service that will be local to you. After watching it being fitted, I should think anyone could do it. it was just like plugging in an electrical extension. you are not obliged to use this service.
I have no links with this company other than using their product.

Woodythewise - no risk of damaging the glow plugs? I didn't realise you could damage them.

How does all this fare with warranty on a new car though?

think he means the electrical plugs . the ones fitted to the boxes are the same plugs that mb use .

Not at all sure. I think most questions can be answered via their website site. You could see what they say, or ask them direct.

If adamant on a decent tuning box/power module than Steinbauer is the way forward as their technology does not increase fuel rail pressure and they simply keep each injector open longer. A reference wire is also soldered on to the TPS sensor and the module also connects to the EGT sensor so if temperature gets too hot power is decreased to prevent any damage.

Mosselman do a decent IC Module as well but power gains are not massive in comparison to Steibauer.

Kleemann tuning box in my opinion is a hype as is made by Diesel Power Germany and one box fits all as there are manual adjustments on the box. I personally would not touch a DTUK OR Blue Spark box.

Steinbauer is £900 and Mosselman IC module is around £600.

If anyone is looking at Brabus kit than Scudera car parts are supplying them at discounted prices! For me Brabus D6S kit was not the way forward in comparison to ECU tuning by MKB Tuning in Germany.
