Hi
Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, of this little gadget as supplied by http://www.tuningbox.com/ ?
Claims a 25% power gain with no adverse effects on fuel consumption, engine wear etc.
Previous owner fitted it to my car, but I have removed it and put aside for two reasons. Firstly, my current insurance company is a bit of dinosaur when it comes to insurance cover. Even if you fit new car mats, youd have to inform them
, so a performance upgrade would no doubt lead to a significant hike in premium (they are competative if you keep your car standard, but not so otherwise, so will ditch them come renewal). Secondly, I would really like as much info as possible on the device and I am going to try to dig up as much as I can on the subject.
Funnily enough, I only looked at two cars - both private sales, and both were fitted with a tuning box. I always believe that there is no such thing as a free lunch, so there must be some give somewhere, but at the same time I am aware that it is always possible to increase power output from standard slightly outside of manufacturer's tolerances as they typically err well on the side of caution.
