Gives performance in both analog and digital spectrum TV signals offering high performance in metro areas broadcasting SD DVB-T

Offers support for rear screen in W164 and also selective output to non-Mercedes screen in RGBs, S-Video and Composite.

Selective input functions are NTSC and PAL to either of the AUX inputs.

Mmm, now the question is can it be retrofitted ?

That unit is being fitted to a 2004 E-Class, 2005 C55, 2006 CLK and a specially modified 2000 W203 C-Class.

I understand that there is at least one person interested in fitting it to a R171 SLK.

Would be v interested in the results of the fitting - especially the ease of fitment.

Same here.

Does it use the same aerials as the analogue tuner? Does it install where the analogue tuner would be? How much is it (just the tuner)?

Hi will this fit my 2004 320 209 Cab with my comand i already have a DVD fitted or i shall i continue to wait for a more stable version, I heard DVB is not very good on the move or has this now been sorted? Maybe it's down to the type of aerials fitted in the bumpers for Cabs compaired to hardtops.

What do you think?

Why do you say it like it has just come out? This has been offered for a while in Europe as it was demonstrated to us when it was first introduced about 6 months ago.

It sits in any car with MOST protocol over fibre optic not D2B protocol. Possibly excludes W220, W215 and R230.

Yes it uses the same aerial technology.

Did you try ordering the parts ? This unit costs $1400 Euro for those curious to know.

If you have the new type of W209 CLK then the aerial is in the front glass like an SL R230

Not what I wanted to hear. :(

My car's due a service soon so I can ask the dealer if it's compatible (unless anyone can tell me sooner).

This particular unit has "image over coax" and the S, CL, SL have image over fibre optic.

I may have overshot the details slightly at the start of the thread.

Yes, and no. Yes, cause I got the Tuner bit as it was the only bit that I required as I had the other bits. No, as I did not try ordering the other parts. But having said that there were more than a few on the warehouse shelf, and I am pretty sure that most of the other parts where in stock as I noticed a few of those as well. But having said that, chances are that all the part might not have been availble, or were on back order.

Option 863 - combined digital and analog was not orderable 6 months ago as there were no part numbers in EPC for it. This is not the "add-on" kit you may have seen around town. This is a complete unit with advanced electronics and twin screen support.

The cables are actually chassis specific and it looks like I am going to need about 6 weeks to get the E-Class part as none exist.

If I was able to procure 2006 parts in early 2005 I most certaintly would have done so and beaten the dealers to it by a good 18 months.

so, please correct me if i am wrong but the command 2.0 in my w203 uses d2b or something and hence the digital tuner is not compatible? :o
Thanks

No. It is not compatible for W203 with D2B. For that you need one of these.

Just cause it is not on the EPC does not mean that the warehouse in Sindelfingen does not have them in stock. All it means is that they are in the process of putting it on the EPC which takes anything up to 3 months once they start building stock. Generally they will only put it on the EPC when they have sufficient stock but this is not always the case, as in this case as those where offered first on the various cars as a option before they appeared on the EPC. The demos that we get are normally well in advance of anything that appears on the EPC. Normally they are once the part has passed certification and then comes the task of deciding when they will become available for the various models, when parts will be sufficient and so forth. Yes, the cables are car specific as you say, but as I said I had all of those knocking around for my needs. The tuner was the same as in your pics above in your first post.

If you want me to find out any part availability pm me and I will check for how long the delay is.

EPC is only a rough guide in some cases but I do know that I placed an order for the ML COMAND the day it came out on the orderable list. Before that it was ether.

Supply is irregular these days. One door handle took 9 weeks to arrive. I have no idea how long it will take for the [863] tuner cables to arrive but I certainly want them in all the chassis variants from 203 up to 211

I bought this unit in Hongkong :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5805592735

42£ for the unit, 30 £ handling and 24 euro customs !

It works if the car doesn't move. In cities it does not work at all. So unless there is a powerfull digital transmitter in your region don't buy this item. Does not have diversity antenna system neither.

Will those work in a W220 S? If not, is there anything at the moment that will?
