Dimming RVM

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question before i begin to do anything to the car. I have a w202 98 which has a normal RVM. I have managed to acquire a dimming RVM from a w210 which is a facelift model also.

I wanted to be sure before starting to take things off that the w210 mirror would fit and work in my car?

Any one with any experience?

I have read them both but they dont mention in particular which dimmig mirrors will fit a w202!

I changed mine on my w202 to a auto dimming and it was very easy.

Not sure if the W210 mirror fits though...do you have a part number ?

I too have changed the RVM on my W202 to an auto dimming one, and yes, it is very easy.

But I though it was only possible on some W202? (ie if you have the wiring already in the car).
Do you know that you have the appropriate socket in your reading light panel?

I will have to post the part number later as i dont have the mirror to hand at the moment. Looking at the How To it does look a very simple and quick task really!

Im not sure if i have the wiring already in the car. Is there a way of telling without taking panels off to look at the socket, its a facelift? Im sure i have but again i will be checking this a bit later...

I had a w202 and I bought a diming RVM if I well remember it was from a W210, since parts were interchangable between W202, 29 and 210, at least this is what someone told me!

mine was a 202 facelifted car

Done! Just got home for a round trip to Portsmouth from Woking after fitting it and can confirm the mirror does work . So im sure this applies to most other W202's and if they are facelift they will have a socket, so dimming mirror from a w210 should indeed work...

So it seems the W210 mirrors are identical to the W202 ones.

Thanks Mr. Shr. Just to let everyone know the reading light panel can also be swapped as i found them to be exactly identical including the sockets, size fit etc.

So if you manage to find a w210 dimming mirror it would be advisable to get the reading light panel as well incase you dont have the right socket on yours...
