Hey Guys

Don't know if this is the correct area to post this however here goes.
I have a track day this easter weekend that I am looking forward too. One of the events during the track day will be a quater mile drag for Merc's and BMW's. I will be participating and would like to know if there is any way to disable the traction control on my W202 C230K manual. I know that the button on the dash is supposed to do this, however when I launched my car at about 2000rpm there was slight wheel spin and I could feel the traction control taking effect. It causes the engine to drop in power slightly and this stop the car from accelerating smoothly. Any ideas or any suggestions? My friend has a 328i E36 that I really want to beat at the drags.

No,, not really,, you will lose BAS and maybe ABS, but I doubt that that will go, the dash lights will tell all

My chances againt the Beemer good or bad? Haven't really raced the car so don't really know. Any comments?

I doubt you will win. Is his an auto?

Auto's tend to change quicker that a manual.

328i has 198 bhp .... dunno how much it weighs ..

You've got 193 bhp ... should be fairly evenly matched ...

He has a manual shifter. Both cars stock. Doubt that he has done any mods except exterior. He is running on 17inches though. Think this might be to his advantage as I am running on 16inches. Any other ideas of how I might get a competative edge. First time racing Merc. Is there a peak rpm for launching the car?

You would be better of reading a road test and looking at the torque and BHP and where they fall in relation to the rev counter

If your engine peaks say max power at 3950rpm there would be no point in hanging onto that gear beyond 3950 rpm

Take all of your crap out of the car as well.... spare wheel , old bottles of water , toolkits, etc etc ...

Only fill the tank up 1/4 full too ....

You'll save yourself 50 kilos easy ...
