Has anyone managed that around se England?

I had a MB since 200, 2 c classes and then a brand new gle in 2016. This is coming up to the B service. 7k on the clock as we use this car for weekends, family trips, etc.
The A service was 250 close to 300 last year, can't remember and I felt for an oil change it was ok.

The B service, other than oil and filter change just like the A service, not much else going on other than a few checks.

The MB plans, I intend to start next year as it will cover the 3rd, 4th and 5th services as 5th inc's ATF change.

Cost of B service at Dartford and surround dealers all owned by MB I think is 648/9 quid.

Don't want to go to an indy as it's supposed to be a complex car.

All help appreciated

As you know B Service is the bigger one, plus break fluid change (the car will also need a new cabin/pollen filter, but on some model this is included in the cost of the B Service). For this reason I think your best bet would be to start a Service Care Plan asap to 'capture' the current B Service. It's quite flexible, e.g. you can have a 3 years plan now and then renew for another 2 years etc. Please note however that (from memory) you can only pay for the Service Care Plan by instalments if the next service is at least 3 months away, otherwise you need to pay upfront.

It’s always worth an ask, my first service on previous car an E300 Hybrid was done at a reduced price and it was offered to me without prompting.

My current car an E350 has a service plan so I get a B, A & B services.

Re the service plan. If you sell the car you do get the unused balance returned.
Yes, though they claculate any services already done based on their standard cost, so you lose the financial advantage that you would have had if the plan was allowed to run its course. Still, you will be no worse off than if you didn't take-out the plan in the first place.

Cheers Markjay

I touched on the service plans and the woman never mentioned the 2 years on top of 3 yr option. I've just googled and can't see anything either.

dust filter was supposed to be replaced at every service and there was no additional cost.

ATM, my cars cost is coming to 41 quid a month and service actually due in late April. Does that mean I have to pay them 36 (3yrs) x 41 quid if I paid in April?

I don't intend on doing more than 5k miles a year. so really no big additional items other than the ATF change 5th year.

I will give MB a call sometime next week

Thanks for your help

Break fluid change is due every 2 years.

Air filter every 4 years.

And if your car is petrol, there's also spark plugs change every 4 years.

And there's also panoramic roof lubricating (if you have one).

If you came off a service plan now, you could start another plan immediately. The only caveat is that of course no one can guarantee that MB will still be offering service plans in 3 years time.

If you want the April service included in the new service plan, then yes you will need to pay for the 3 years upfront - but as said this is from memory so please double-check with MB.

Said that, I believe that you can be late by up to 30 days on a service without it affecting your warranty, so you may still be able to start the plan now and get the car serviced under the new plan in 3 months from now (e.g. 9th May). But again, check this with MB.

Also, just to clarify that you buy an X number of services (say 2 or 3 services) and pay for them over a Y number of instalments (say 24 or 36 instalments).

I say 'X number of services' and not ' X number of years', because that's what you are actually buying. So in theory if you bought a '3-year' plan and then decided to service your car only every 18 months (it's your car and your call), then the plan would still cover you for the 3 services but these will now strech over 4.5 years instead of 3 years.

Yep, just checked this the other day as it works out slightly better if I stretch out the next two service’s given that I only do about 4K miles pa.

Hi all

Many thanks for your help, especially Markjay.

I rang MB - waited 10 mins to get through.

Yes, confirmed that service can be extened up to 18 months even on plan.

3 yr plan is approx 1470.

I will be doing less than about 4k per annum now in the gLE.

Car is 2 yrs old in April. so

Sorry, left message midway as caught out by a phone call.

Therefore, will join up soon, pay upfront the 1470 odd quid

There a B, A, and B service will take it into the fifth year there should inc the ATF change.

Last serviced last May actually I thought it was April. So will go for Agust/Sept 2018

Next one in 2020 jan then

then third one in approx April/may, will be 5 years old and about 22/25k on the clock.

Thanks

ps - dartford 650 ish for B and 310 for A service includes brake fluid change and so filter and oil inc in price.

It’s always worth an ask,

The snag I found over the 12 yrs I used the local dealer, was that it became increasingly difficult to get hold of anyone interested enough to negotiate.
