Distronic 2 upgrade

I know its a long shot but is it possible to upgrade a Distronic system to Distronic2?

It turns out that the control unit on my Distronic is broken so if I am going to replace it, is the upgrade possible and is it worth it as the function is basically the same.

Hello greatw I do not think that you will find that it is possible to upgrade 2.

I take it that you would like the STOP and HOLD functions since this was normally used With SBC it would mean a new pump as the software is not the same

Thanks Malcolm. I thought that would be the case.
The unit was faulty when I bought the car and I found out today that the garage removed the control unit to prevent any further errors as it was faulty. I figured it could be repaired but they say not :-(

Any idea where I could source one from and how much it is likely to cost?

Big Problem is that there are not that many cars around with distronic, is your car a 211

jbo has retrofitted the entire system http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=34252 should give you an idea about costs although not sure where he got his 2nd hand parts

SG CL500, so what I need to do is find another car with the unit installed and torch it ;-)

Seriously though I'll make some enquiries and let you all know how I go on. After all that is what the forum is for.
