Was quoted over £500 to wrap my scratched up silver bits.

Got some 3M carbon wrap for £30, and with a hairdryer and a scalpel and a bit of time, this is the result so far. For a first attempt I'm very happy with the look.

Top section to follow, and door trims.

i think you may have a queue forming for some carbon fibre work ....:D

Thats looks amazing, did you take any of the panels out to do the work?

Getting the pattern horizontal must have been a mare .

Many thanks for the encouraging comments guys.

Yes, panels came out. I don't think it would be at all possible to get a good finish otherwise. The main panel surrounding the gear stick is v.easy to remove. The ashtray lid comes off easily too, you'll see tabs underneath. The whole ashtray has to come out to remove the air con panel. The top vents need to come out to remove the top panel, and that's a little trickier. Made more tricky in my case by the fact that one of the release tabs used to swivel the vent fully upwards (which creates a gap...just....to get a T20 inside) has snapped off. I think someone must have had a go previously and messed it up. In any event, I only have a T20 as part of a socket set and need to buy a T20 screwdriver to re-attempt the vent removal.

As for lining up the pattern, actually, it was pretty easy. The 3M tape is marked with a grid on the back which makes accurate cutting easy. As long as you offer up the piece to be wrapped nice and square, it's a synch.

Been a busy weekend, what with the wrapping and the Rosen installation for the kids:-

Finally, yes indeed, with "pro wrappers" charging £500 I should indeed offer my novice services. More than happy to help anyone out with this should they wish. Once you've done it once, you'll realise it's not rocket science.

When I have the doors off to do the door trim wrapping, will also be upgrading the absolutely pants HK speaker system with some lovely JL kit.

Good job mate. This stuff is very hard wearing and will look this good for years to come. Did you consider using the new glossy 3m carbon vinyl? Not seen an interior wrapped in it yet.

While you were at it you should have wrapped the upper swtich panel to match. Only need to remove the head unit and pop the middle vents out to remove once ash try is out.

similar work

i did this few months back.

azaman...upper switch panel on the list, as said above. Not seen the glossy 3M stuff, so no, but very happy with the look of this stuff anyway.

evdok, nice! Hadn't considered wrapping that but it's now on the list as well.

edit....or maybe not...as I don't seem to have the same gear surround lol !

Did the top section last night having managed to get the air con centre blowers out. Talk about saving the hardest till last. In particular, the air bag light is very fiddly indeed, as the fitment so tight. I'm not 100% happy as there is the tinyest of bumps under this section, so I'm going to re-do it. Almost there though. Think I'll also plastidip the chrome surround to the warning triangle button while I'm at it. Then on to the doors.
