If you have a Black car then you might like this. I bought the Turtlewax Black Box a while ago and am still using the black wax and the black detailer. As you know my car has had dozens of coats of wax and sealants etc and therefore I decided to not use the Pre Wax Cleaner. The product is designed to prepare a black cars surface for waxing or polishing by cleaning of any existing layers and removing and filling existing swirls. You then buff and then apply a wax or polish. If you have a black car which you would like to use this product on then please let me know by PM and you can have it for free. In the event of several people wanting it, then the best PM wins!

Surely perfect for a black C350 ... I think I know somebody who has one ;)

Thank you for all the PMs. Sorry to those that didn't get it but the winner is Knighterrant!

Thanks R2D2. :thumb:

I'll now have to find another excuse for not keeping my car shining beautifully.

The real question is would you recommend the stuff and does it do what its supposed to?

The reeason I'm asking is I have a black slk now and Ive cleaned it using carnuba wash and then a clay bar followed that with an autoglym lifeshine treatment.

However if I am honest I wasn't happy with the finish so I then used some autoglym resin polish followed by autoglym extra gloss protection and then some autoglym HD wax (phew that took days and days which added up to well over 2 weeks lol as I am disabled|).

By now I was starting to get a finish I liked but I had bought some Boora's carnuba number 1 polish, so I had to try it:) anyway that was really easy to use and has made a visible difference but as you have proibably gathered I want the best I can get and there are visible swirtls I would love to get rid of or hide.

Although knighterrant will have to give us review of the precleaner, I love the black box carnuba wax which hides a multitude! The black box detailer is nice to use but seems to cause static as dust clings to it as soon as you have finished polishing with it :(

This will be of little use on Sybil which as you know is white. Any other recommendations please?

White cars stick to the werstatt acrylic range. For wax collinite on the cheap side and dodo juice supernatural at the higher end of the market.

A very long time later, here are my comments.
Using the Turtlewax Black Pre Wax Cleaner on most of my C350's bodywork made no difference that I could see. I only used it on small sections at a time, but it was very easy to apply and polish off. But because I've always washed the car using the two-bucket method and used lots of different cloths when polishing, it's not yet suffering from any swirls so I haven't been able to assess the Pre-Wax effectiveness there.

But what I was eventually able to see today was how good it is at hiding tiny chips. When cleaning the car this morning I spotted a couple of tiny chips close together in the paintwork on one of the doors, each less than a mm long and clearly caused by a flying stone . So it was out with the Black Pre-Wax to give it a go. It may be that I need to build up a few layers in the chips, but it hasn't hidden them in one go. They're far less visible, now being grey instead of white, and probably nobody else would see them. But I can! I tried to photograph before and after, but couldn't take anything that meant much. A couple of tiny dots on plain black aren't all that informative.

So far then, my observation based on its use on reasonably new unmarked paintwork, is that it's good but not wonderful. It may be effective on very light scratches. Hopefully it'll be a long time before I'm able to report on how good it is on those!

Anyway, here's a shot of how the car is now. I didn't take any care over the background but it does show quite well what Magnetite Black looks like (better than the previous photos that I've taken in the sunshine).

lovely finish on a lovely car!

Might have to try some of that on mine....or should I use Poorboys black hole?

Any suggestions gents?

I found Poorboys black hole very good and easy to use. I also use Poorboys Natty blue wax over the top.

I have used Turtle Black Box several times and it does give a great finish in terms of hiding light swirl marks etc.

I then go over the supplied carnuba wax with a couple of coats of Poorboys Natty blue or Petes 53 wax. The finish is extremely good.

Cheers guys, looks like I'll be trying both at some point then.
