Just to add my 2p...

Since indication is all about giving information to other road users and to pedestrians (and those pesky cameras) - I reckon it's far better to be safe than sorry.

Indicating to come back into the lane you started from is no skin off your nose so why not, and this cannot be misunderstood by anyone as it's a clear indication of intent.

Now.. here's the crux.. I -- was driving on the M25 recently pootling along in the leftmost lane.. minding my own.. but just taking it easy for a while.. probably doing about 55.. after a few miles I got a bit fed up so I accelerated a bit.
The car who had just overtaken me started to drift into my lane forcing me to decelerate pretty hard. If he had indicated I would have pulled out and gone around him instead of allowing the huge truck behind me to scare Mrs Noodles out of her wits...

On multi-lane roads, yes. On single carriageway, no.

Ditto. Always on motorways and dual carriageways, never on single carriageways as it's obvious I've got nowhere else to go and would if anything be misleading and cause the car behind to wonder if I was about to turn left.

I work on the basis that it's not always obvious whether you'll pull back in or not, as judgement of your approach to the next car in front of the one you've just overtaken is pretty subjective, not least more difficult to get right from outside the car.

Ian.

I've had a little battle with this one on the forum before but I'll stand my ground yet again.

I always indicate at all times no matter what the situation is.

Some say you don't need to indicate if nothing is there.

I say that one day something that is easily missible WILL be there and that is when problems arise.

However, a lot of people do signal-mirror-manoeuvre though.

Waits..

Counting....

I bet you £5 that this thread will now run until Christmas day. :D

When towing I always indicate.

When in heavy traffic I always indicate.

When vehicles around me are doing similar speeds I always indicate.

When I'm in Lane 3 I always indicate.

When traffic is light or much slower than me, then I may or may not indicate.

I find the 3 flash system on the A Class is very useful :thumb:

Although I have caught it accidently whilst altering the speed limiter :o
