I noticed earlier today that when I fold my W211 wing mirrors in the drivers side sits very close to the door. On closer inspection I noticed that the paint has been damaged :( .
I spoke to the dealer and they are going to look at it tomorrow but they are talking about maybe having to respray the door  . Do you reckon this is a bit extreme  I thought maybe they could do a sort of smart repair.
Obviously I want it repaired properly but I'm not sure I want the whole door resprayed.
What do you guys/pammy reckon

Is the paint damaged because the mirror hits the door, if its folded back when the door closes?

I noticed this on my W140 - the you can almost see the mirror bounce, but i dont think it actually touches the door. Never noticed this on the C class, presumably because the door aint as heavy...

I'll let the experts comment on the respray! :D

I reckon that this is bodywork talk :)
Moving...

If they (the bodyshop) are wanting to spray the entire door I would check with them, very carefully, how long the work will be warrantied for and how your Mobilo life warranty will be affected. I'm pretty sure that if the door is resprayed then it will lose the 30 year anti perforation guarantee. I'd raise this issue with them if you are not keen to have the entire door re-painted, does sound a bit extreme though but a bodyshop will always try to 'work up' a job when a warranty is involved as MB UK HQ will be paying the bill... easy money for the bodyshop so to speak.

It just rests against the door when fully folded in. The paint damage is fairly minimal but I try to keep the car perfect so to me it is irritating.

There's no such thing as an invisible paint repair. If you have a patch painted you will always be able to see it. The whole door needs painting and blending to the surrounding panels.

This won't affect the warranty as it is not to repair body damage and will be approved by MB.
