Don't fit dog caging to your Vito ...

Just got the van back - £262.20 :(

The actual labour for removing & refitting the caging was 3.1 hours, but they capped it at 2 hours as agreed. They are going to try and reclaim some of it from the warranty dept. on my behalf but not hopeful.

On the plus side the valeters were in today, so the Vito (which was abosolutely filthy after 1000 miles of motorway in the last few weeks) came back sparkling clean. And I got another rather classy coffee mug (197 Obsidian black, I think? :D):

Spoke to the tech. who did the work - they wired the union so it wouldn't come apart again. They were very impressed by the quality of the caging, even the people in reception mentioned it?!

So off to Scunthorpe in the morning to get the pup.

What super looking collies!
Our blue merle arrived with a nose made out of one of those pink liquorice allsorts.
But it’s a much more conventional shade of black now!
All the best with the new addition, and now you'll be able to see where you've been!:D

They gave you a mug and charged you £263 for a warranty repair to a 20p pipe....

I will resist...but thats just wrong

As it is a warranty repair, I feel you should get the labour reimbursed!

I agree.
If the pipe had stayed on they wouldn't have had to do any cage removal works.

But the vehicle has been modified away from it's factory spec so MB would expect it to be in factory trim for workshop purposes.

I hope BTB does get some assistance but wouldn't hold out any hope.

Yup I'm not expecting to hear any more, but (to my surprise) they did say they'd try.

The caging is designed to allow all 'normal' operations - it has removable panels to make it easier to take the covers off the internal storage each side, and no problem accessing the spare etc. with it all fitted.

The caging also fits to existing hardpoints (for lashing rings, grab handles, etc.), so the vehicle is totally stock & unmarked if/when you remove it.

The dealership did a good job of taking it out and putting it back in - have done 450 miles today and no rattles or anything.

And little Sola (the pup) is asleep in the utility room :)
