Over the last few weeks I've been and viewed:
An ML 63 AMG
A Maserati Quattroporte and last night
A BMW X6
And I've gone with definite intention to buy each one, I genuinely have, but there's just something not quite clicking.
Starting with the first the ML63:
Capable enough vehicle, great engine sound etc but just didn't make me want to hand over the readies there and then (which isn't like me at all)
Then the Quattroporte:
I really had to struggle to resist buying it as soon as I laid eyes on it, pictures don't really do these cars justice; they are a work of art. Then there was the wondrous sound, just sublime. But then reality crept in in the form of two big things; it had the automated manual 'box and it wasn't very practical, both of these issues would have caused me much headache at a later date from the better half and as it was to be our main transport, in the end, I had to shelve the idea for six months until I can buy one just to use as a toy.
The X6:
As the taste police were on holiday, I decided to give these a try and for some reason a matte black 35d caught my eye so I thought it might be good to own one of these for six month. Went yesterday and overall it impressed me, the engine was quick enough, gearbox was keen, interior felt good quality but on the negative side the boot was pretty much useless because of the slope of the roof, the visibility was shocking, seriously the worst I've ever been in. But I liked it, somehow, besides its weird looks, it seems to work. I didn't end up buying that particular one though, 'twas a clean car but there were just too many little issues that when added up made it hard for me to even bid him, things like; 6 owners, the colour underneath was red, needed about £500 spending on tyres and a couple of other bits etc etc
So the search goes on, the current favourites, and in no particular order, are:
BMW X6 35/40d
BMW X5 35/40d
Audi A7
RR Sport
Q7 4.2tdi
ML 350 CDi
