Hi all

I just left mercedes garage after getting my gearbox oil replaced and they told me that my near side driveshaft boot was split and the only way to change it is by replacing the full drive shaft at £900 with labour .
Is there a kit to replace boot or will I have to replace the driveshaft.

Oh it a 2007 w211 220cdi

Thanks in advance
Rob

Is it the inner or outer CV boot that has gone?

The only place for split drive drive shaft boots is the bin, they might if your lucky
last long enough for the mot test.Do it properly,do it once and fit one you don't
have to stick together.

They are a bodge but done correctly, might make it to the next MOT.

Gobs of grease and super glue, the confined space... stack the odds against success.
The securing clips supplied are always rubbish, too.

900 quid?? Just remove the shaft and fit a new OE gaiter if the joint's OK.

Unfortunately you can't buy oe gaiter have to buy complete driveshaft, agree split boot not an option, outer gaiter split.

Never ceases to amaze me that for a £10 part you need to spend £900!!!!!
I used to fit a lot of stretch boots, is this not feasible for your needs?
