Hi all, I have a c180. Woke up this morning de-iced the car, started the engine and pressed the unfold button for the mirrors but only the passenger mirror came out? I turned off the car hoping to reset something, but that did nothing. I had to drive to work with no drivers mirror...!

Please help is there any way to get this back out and working?

Rich

Sometimes my W203 used to stall its folding mirrors generally on the opening out; especially in icy conditions. I used to assist it every now and then, it always worked eventually anyway

Hi Tele, I can't move it out manually - I have given it a little push but there is quite a lot of resistance, I don't want to force it in case I break it... I have tried to push the unfold button and give it a push at the same time but no joy...?

Hi all, sorted it out. I thought oh well, if it's got to go into a garage I may as well give it a bit more of a push, it popped right out - still works as well.

Bonus, :bannana:

Spraying some silicon or PTFE into the moving hinge part can work wonders and ease the loading on the motors.

It will not hurt the paint in any way :)

Mine was the same one day last week, simply iced up, once thawed works as normal.

Is WD40 a silicon or PTFE ?

No its nothing like it.

WD40 is a release agent that dries out with a short time.

PTFE and silicon never dries and is a super transparent lubricant, its used on router cutters to stop the tips from burning, and those things run at 20k RPM
