Hi,not bought one yet, still currently driving a mondeo tdci.
the car i have seen is a c240 1997 model, with drivability in mind, how would the c240 compere? not driven it yet.

Well, I dont know what year your Mondeo is, but the main difference other than build quality which should be a bit better on the Merc is the fact that its RWD. I do know that Mondeo's take the miles well though so the bit about build quality may be subjective. How it drives is personal choice so probably best you just go and drive it tbh. Certainly the '98 C Class I had was a pretty good cruiser and was fairly quiet inside compared to other machinery of the day. Oh yes, and check for rust, its 13 years old now and some were a bit iffy from that period.

Well I've got a C280 with same v6 M112 engine. You should find the engine super smooth and quiet. Performance should be ok but not blisteringly quick and economy will again be ok but not brilliant. The auto box (I think they're all auto) should be virtually seamless when fully warmed up. Yes, rust is the big issue but also check out the alarm which is prone to playing up as it get water ingress / internal battery problems. There's lots of electronic gadgets on the C240 as well so check they all work properly. Should be a very nice car if you get a good one.
