As you know I've been trying different polishes and sealants and on 7th july I zymolled my car and coated with G Techniq C2. Since then R2 to has had a hard life. I drove over a thousand miles last week alone and over the past months, Ive hand washed the car 3 times and it had a jet wash in Scotland so that I could see out of the windows!

So what do you guys think of the durability of the finish given such treatment.

Video 1 day 1

Video 2 after 7 days

Video 3 Today. Roughly a month later and 3 hand washes and one jetwash and several thousand miles later.....

My feeling is that it is still repelling water but it takes longer to do it....

I use Megs "Last Touch" - same as their Quick Detailer, but bought in bulk therefore cheaper - after every wash, takes 10 minutes, and it significantly increases the "just polished" beading timeframe.

C2 V3 is nothing like last touch. Megs last touch is a heavy silicone based quick detailer. Where's C2 V3 is a liquid crystal coating that will still give upto 8 months protection and a perfectly contamenant free surface.

Detailed. Do you think it's performing roughly how you'd expect?

Thanks for the explanation: but a couple of Questions, if I may - looking at the third pic in the OP, I'm not sure that looks like "8 months' protection" on the top of the wing after just one month?

Shouldn't I be using Last Touch? If not, any particular reason?

I'm still learning, and thought that my efforts, as below, were working well:

Wet car with spray hose

Wash car (2 buckets) with generic shampoo using Megs sheepskin mitt

Rinse with spray hose

Dry with Megs Water Magnet microweave cloth

Poorboys White Diamond followed by B-H Autobalm two or three times a year

Last Touch after each wash in between

I live in a very hard water area, and it's difficult to remove all traces of rinsing

Thanks

Malcolm

Have another look Malcom the bonnet is virtually dry after 40 seconds and the wing has a few spots left towel dry from that would take minutes.

Tony.

I have to say that in terms of beading etc, I would have expected better after a month. It really doesn't look that much better (to me) than if it had been waxed - especially considering the incredible water repellent properties it showed immediately after first application.

Car is still SUPER shiny though :)

Can't say I agree, Tony, but then the caption does say "video", and I can only see the photo, as I said, which to me looks like the bonnet is still beaded but the top of the wing is not, but it's still wet - just as it would be without polish. (I tried to access a video, but all I get is a blank Photobucket screen)

If there is a video, which shows it to be good, then OK, disregard that bit of my earlier post.

If you click the photo then it'll open the video.....

Believe me, that's exactly what I did, before I posted, because it said "video", but I got a blank Photobucket screen.......

I'll try again at home later, as I'm hooked now!!

LOL. I know it gets you bad! I think the video was buffering.

I too can not comment as I can not open the video on the iPhone.

Remember Gtechniq products are super sensitive to super clean panels. If you ipa before applying it'll last and work the way it should. There's lots of waxes on the market that would outlive c2 V3. It's just don't to what you want. As a spray its the best on the market and the only things u can put it up against are the likes of dodo juice tropical mist, chemical guys v7 and zaino z8. None of which would keep up with it. Waxes & spray sealants give a totally different finish to crystal lacquers & hydrophobic coatings. It's just what you prefer:) obviously CL coatings last alot longer, alot more uv protected and anti marring & holograming. But then there's alot more prep when applying them. I still wax my work van to this day with swissvax crystal rock because I love it:) but come winter this year it'll be under the headlamps and I will be fitting modesta BC-03. Now that's a whole different league altogether;)

crystal rock on your van:eek: ....How the other half live :thumb:

Tony.

Haha I benefits of owning a tub or two for your customers. To be fair it never ever gets used in this day and age. Every car for 2 years I have completed has been crystal lacquered.

Have a look at chemical guys, not really big in uk but huge in America I recently bought their detailers and waxes and I would say they are better than meguiers and AG. they have a youtube channel so you can see the results on darker cars they use.

Speaking of lsp's I'm now an applicator for all Modesta coatings. 10 year life Span ( yes it really does last that long) but will put up a thread soon on these products. Hopefully Friday I can put up some of the work I've completed for mb members, fingers crossed :)
