Hi guys.

I got 2 bits of plastic with cloth on them yesterday in the post which have duxback printed on them.

I ordered these from MB Manchester through the chap (Mike) that advertises here.

£7 each and NO INSTRUCTIONS at all!

About 3 inches long each and nothing else.

The CS from these guys is pretty poor I think.

I bought via ebay and paid via Paypal.

I realised after I completed the transaction that my old work address was set as default.

I emailed Mike at MB Manchester and PM'd him also telling him of the incorrect address and giving him my correct address.

Didn't hear anything so then a couple of days later re-emailed and PM'd him.

I received a PM back from him advising me that the Parts Manager was aware and the address would be changed.

On Monday I still hadn't received my order so I called them up, spoke to someone and subsequently found out that the address HADN'T been changed and that it was ready to go out in the post!

Yesterday I received an little envelope with the two said pieces of plastic and nothing else (apart from a wee keyring I'd bought).

I called and left a message for Mike to call.

Still haven't heard anything.

Beware when ordering through people that join just to sell there wares. The Customer Service I have experienced is not really very good.

Have a good day Chaps and Chappesses.

KJ

p.s. I just spoke to Luke, after I typed this, who was very helpful and told me exactly what the procedure is:

1. Wash the windscreen properly.
2. Squeeze the two wings together on the applicator.
3. Apply a uniform layer on the windscreen.
4. Leave to dry.
5. Voila!

I shall try it and let you guys know how it works soon!

As there was no real description I assumed for £7 each it would be a bottle of fluid or a pack of wipes (like RainX).

Anyways, lets see if its actually worth it!

KJ

Just checked the Halfords website and Rain X is £6.99 for a 200ml bottle.

Hey ho.

The above mirrors my experience exactly paid for my DuxBack 10 days ago with Paypal and not a thing. To be fair partsspecialist on here has tried to sort it out and we have communicated via PM. Think his manager may be the weak link in the chain.

But 10 days and still no goods, not impressed at all, good job I'm not waiting for parts for a customers car , hope these guys service the trade better than the forum members or they wont be around for long

I received the same from them yesterday, absolutely amazed at receiving so little, I was expecting to get a bottle of fluid and some instructions. All that came was a plastic applicator and a sticker! Awaiting reply from Ebay message asking if this is correct.

I contacted Gareth directly - had mine through in two days no problem!

Difference between this stuff and Rain-X is that, apparently, Duxback will last up to 6 months where Rain-X might last a week or two.

Also, it will only do ONE window.

Would be good to see how well it works.

Unbelieveable

Well although I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Chemical engineering I was nearly beaten by a cross between a tampon and panty liner masquerading as duxback, until I read kbohgal126's instructions (Thanks)

Mine arrived today no instructions no nothing (but thanks for sorting Gareth) This must have been on of the worst advertised listings I have ever seen on e bay I like others were expecting a bottle of fluid, it should have been made a lot clearer and to ship without instructions is unforgiveable how long would it have taken to have typed and printed a few copies to include in the envelope.

Gareth is a top guy and has always given me great service however if his manager is running the e bay side of things, think I for one will steer well clear from now on.

This product sounds the exact same as Aquapel, certainly the plastic container with two wings is the same.

If it is simply relabelled as Ducks whatever, the instructions are wrong.

Thanks for that rf065 would appear there is some confusion on how to apply this, just been on the Duxback website and its about as helpful as the original e bay listing from where we bought it. Can anyone give a definitive application advice anyone used it before ?

If it is the same stuff as Aquapel & you apply it without wiping it off again, it will dry cloudy and take hours to remove. I did my side & back window with Aquapel a year ago & the water still beads up & runs off them even now. The reason it only lasts 6 months on the windscreen is due to the wipers eventually rubbing it off. It is good stuff.

Russ

Maybe the chap who sold us the stuff could be so kind and tell us exactly how it should be applied to ensure that there is no confusion?

That'll be the end of the matter then.

Ok.
First of all can I apologise to anyone that has recieved a poor service from us as a dealer. Although it wasnt me personally it is still dissapointing to hear people not happy with the service they recieve.

Now, Ive had a word with the guys in the valet bay that apply Duxback here when its been ordered by sales.

1. Wash and dry window, must be SPOTLESS. Lift wipers.
2. Squeeze tabs on applicator to break internal vessel containing fluid.
*WARNING* Duxback contains ammonia and so smells pretty bad, use in a well vented area.
3. Starting in the top corner of the window apply in horizontal strokes towards the centre of the screen working down towards the wipers. Careful to avoid any black parts inc trim and wipers. DO NOT apply to the black part of the windscreen edge covering the rain/light sensor.
4. Leave for 3-4 mins until it starts to go cloudy.
5. Buff off with a clean, dry cloth.

Note Do not leave too long or it is a nightmare to get off.

Should this product be used on front windscreens at all?

I ask because after trying rainex, it caused the wiper to smear for 3 months afterwards. Visibility in the rain was worsened because of this, contrary to what it said on the tin.

I'd be surprised if this very similar sounding product is any different.

That usually happens with Rain Ex when the windscreen hasn't been cleaned sufficiently before applying it. Did you use the Rain Ex cleaner beforehand, also a trick I picked up from a car detailer to deep clean the glass before applying treatments use a mild cleaner such as Cif (Jif) and it will come up sparkling, I do it all the time on my work cars which get covered in traffic film and other airbourne pollutants from where it is parked.

no, the product was applied properly... this is a feature of rainex its not so much as a smear but a sort of haze for a second or so after the wipe.

There's some benefit on mirrors and side glass (but frankly not really worth the hassle of applying the product) but I'd never apply anything like this to the front windscreen again without very careful consideration.

As earlier always use Rainex on my front screen, deep clean the screen with Cif first, then apply the Rain Ex let it haze and polish off. Screen wipes clean no prob but wipers not used all that much as the water simply flies off particularly just after you have done it. Performance starts to drop off towards the end of the month in winter thats why I do it once per month. Duxback is for my CLK if it's any good I'll swap to that as its supposed to last 6 months so would save time and effort and worth the extra cost.

Duxback is a lot more hard wearing than rainx.

I didnt know at the time but there are no instructions because it should really be "professionally" fitted.
