Am considering upgrading the DVD COMAND on my CLS to be to HDD COMAND as that includes bluetooth and 7 digit postcode support.

CLS to be has tel pre-wire, so to get bluetooth, needs the SLR type cradle, which isn't so cheap.

Has anyone got any insights or experience on the HDD COMAND improvements over the DVD COMAND?

Thanks.

Going from DVD COMAND to HDD COMAND is considerably more difficult then going from Audio-20-CD to HDD COMAND because wiring has to be run from the AGW (which is taken out) to the new COMAND (as the amplifier is built in). Existing phone system and CD changer also become useless.

If the car has Harmon Kardon it is even more difficult as you have to add 2 amplifiers and an even more complicated loom.

You don't have to use SAP cradle, you can use a ViseeO MB-2 ..

But, HDD COMAND is great particularly if you have the Media Interface so that you get proper iPod integration, but you get 7 digit postcode on the navigation, birds-eye view and its just "modern" compared to the DVD based system.

A SAP cradle isn't as expensive as you might think.

They can be had for around £100.

Presumably a used SAP V2 (or perhaps a new but very old SAP V1 someone has in stock) ?

V2 is good for Nokias. V1 not good if you have a PIN code as you have to enter it every time. V3 very nice, selectable ring tones, works with newer phones well (incl blackberry)

I have started looking out for V2 SAP cradles on fleabay .. they go for about £100.
