Hi guys,

Can you assist me to enable DVD in motion for my W211 COMAND APS?
The firmware is 21.090 (latest one).
I heard that this can be enabled via STAR DAS but now exactly?

Thanks in advance!

I'm sure it's possible even if only by some kind of hack or workaround - it was configurable on earlier models.

Previously requests such as this haven't produced the response that the postee had hoped for, due to the safety, legal and moral implications of enabling this functionality.

Didn't a rather descriptive post pop up a wee while back?

Soon got squashed!

I dont think everyone has STAR diagnostic at home so I dont see any problem.
If anyone has knowledge on that plz PM me.

I'll share some info.

Video in motion on your COMAND unit is contrary to The Road Traffic Act.

Masterross - what you are asking for is illegal, and very dangerous. I severely doubt anyone on here will help you (or anyone else) enable a feature than could cause a very serious accident.

Even if some kind soul provided the information on this thread for you to do what you want, it would be deleted as soon as it's seen.

I'll not argue with you guys.
Even typing of SMS in motion is possible by default.
So as I said before if anyone has knowledge PM me.

i suppose it could be genuinely sought for a front seat passenger's entertainment. but if the o/p wants to watch dvds while driving then i am at a loss,,,,, oh dear.

we all sometimes see someone trying to read a map when driving, or find something in the rear seat etc. only last week an oncoming vehicle swerved well over onto my side of the road whilst reading something in an A4 file, fortunately i just happened to be looking at the road ahead.

You seem pretty determined to enable this feature, but please please please think again. Imagine someone crashed into you while they were watching some DVD. Especially if there was someone else in the car with you. Theres simply no good reason to enable it. When you are driving, all of your attention should be on driving the car. Watching a DVD while driving is one of the poorest things you could be doing.

There's a VERY good reason for it being disabled.

I'll enable this function.
There are many ways to do it but currently I can use original STAR.
And I'm not so stupid to watch TV/DVD when I'm driving.
So please stop spamming the thread.

Listen.

Enabling the DVD in motion on COMAND in the front is illegal - whether you claim to ignore it or not. Installing it is stupid - pure and simple.

In the event of an accident, your insurance will be invalid, you will end up being in prison and possibly having the death of an innocent on your conscience. That innocent might even be a loved one in YOUR car.

If your front seat passenger wants to watch a movie in the car that badly, fit it in the back and put them there.

A driver at less than 100 % concentration is a murderer without a victim.

It's not spam - it's advice. Please heed it for the safety of all.

Not the way to get advice IMO ...

In addition to what LTD just said, even if you "ignore" it, it would be extremely easy to be distracted by it without realising.

And by the way, two posts in a 13 post topic isn't spamming

I dont think anyone should enable this feature regardless of local laws.

Locking thread as its going nowhere.
