DVLA, why?

Its not the Post Office's fault. You mean Royal Mail.

Is this not another case for scrapping the road fund license and put it onto the fuel price?

No , its another case for moving the DVLA away from the morons in swansea! :wallbash:

Lets not even go near them doing cherished transfers!

They send a reminder saying it's not too late to tax online to anyone who hasn't renewed by the 12th of the month before it's due. Mine arrived sometime this week whilst I was away for a car I taxed last week at the Post Office. What a waste of money!

Do you work for nothing, I don't?

It's a tax collection agency not a private company.

Unlike a private company that has to deal with things like cost of sales this is a comfortable little monopoly that doesn't have to compete on charges and has the benefit of the law and police to enforce compliance.

So on principle it shouldn't add *arbitrary* penalties/charges as if it was selling a service and incurred costs because you want to change/cancel.

why didn't you just drive the 35 miles and pick it up.
i'm with manalishi 100%.
there's no point in playing the blame game and feeling sorry for yourself.
mistakes happen, deal with it and move on.
But surely having been paid for a service that hadn't been delivered its up to DVLA to deal with it and move on, not the person who's been let down.
That was really my point, I think we all accept that sometimes things don't work quite as we would have liked, especially in the on-line trading days when we are used to finding what we want so quickly and often from a variety of sources, delivery times don't always match our expectations- my point was that I was very dissappointed with the couldn't give a toss attitude that's so prevalent in our monopolistic public "services"

yes it's the public services that don't give a toss, maybe they can get lessons in caring from a few hedge fund managers :thumb:
