E Class 350CDI Cab
Can anyone advise the best way to remove bird droppings from the soft top from my E class cab please.
I have cleaned and water proofed the roof a couple of weeks ago but as you are aware that sea gull S***t is very strong if not removed on paint work, so this has gone straight into the fabric on the hood and I'm guessing the damage it's going to do on the fabric, so any help would be good please.

Thanks

I normally soak it in water and it will hose off, sometimes a little scrubbing with a tooth brush and a little bit of washing powder helps - but not too much otherwise it may leave a lighter mark.
Generally the material used by Mercedes is very resistant to this sort of thing - soaking will generally be enough to remove it.

Mercedes do a roof cleaner for the cab. I've not had any problem in keeping it clean, whilst I have not undertaken forensic examination of the droppings, in the months my car spends in hot climes by the sea I must have been "gulled" many times and haven't had any difficulty removing these little gifts.

As ever, prompt attention is best and always start with the mildest cleaner, water, and work up.

Thanks, I have soaked the area,s with a couple of wet sponges then used a small brush to agitate the areas, I've let it dry, but there still seams to be the residue left there.
When I get home from work this evening I'll have another go.

Thanks

Keep it wet for longer....

And get some of MBs cleaner. Why did you need to reproof the roof and what did you use? Does the proofing maker make a cleaner to suit? Best wishes.

I recently bought the car, so I thought I'll waterproof the hood then I'll know it's been done. I used the Autoglym hood protector which I thought was a good product to be using.

I have used Renovo hood stain and proofer for appx 20 years on MGB, Alfa Spyder and now E Cab - great products.

I normally clear the hood once per year - a low foam soap cleaner such as Stardrops, or 1001 carpet cleaner will not affecte the colour.

A coat of Renovo black colour, applied with a 2" brush, and then two coats of Renovo proofer.

The original hood is 19 years old and still looks damn good.

You can buy Renovo from any classic car shop, MG or MX5 specialist online stores.

Sounds good but not for me-my hood is red.

The stain is available in many colours, and the waterproofer is clear.
