Have any owners done the widescreen retrofit as I see most of these models don’t have the 2x 12” screens? Or anyone know of any companies that can successfully do the retrofit? I really think the W213s with analogue screens and just 1 widescreen really look poverty spec..

Your could give COMAND in Lightwater, Surrey, a call and see if this is something they could help you with and may be do the swap? They are specialists in this sort of thing, so could help you understand what is possible.
I've been looking at them for a speaker upgrade. May be. One day. When I'm likely to get back to serious miles post-coronavirus and would appreciate the benefit for far too many hours a year.

Over the past 10 years I had two major upgrades done by COMAND UK, and have learnt my lesson....

With the W203, I dithered and dithered and took the plunge only after a few years of ownership.

That meant that in spite of spending the same amount as I would have done earlier, I only enjoyed the upgrade for a couple of years before 'passing it on' to the next owner.

And so, with the W204 I had some substantial work done by COMAND UK within the first few months of ownership... and have been enjoying it for the past 4 years 😎

So my advice... do it early-on in the ownership period, or don't do it at all.

It might look poverty spec now, but after paying for that upgrade you will live in actual poverty
Lol I don't think it will cost that much as you can pick up used 12" wide-screens for reasonable price however its about finding someone who can code them in seemelessly..

The issue will be finding someone that can code these and are prepared to work with your s/hand sourced parts. Most professionals will not do this if they do not supply the parts - too risky for them to work with unknown quantities

Hi, I had my analogue changed to a new digital widescreen, but I already had command, it was still expensive, but would have been even more expensive without command, yes had it done at command uk. Expensive but was worth it to me, as I keep my car for around 8 years.

I did it early, also changed the intelligent led, to the multibeam, drove to Germany to get them fitted and coded. Was very fortunate got lucky with brand new multibeam headlights on Germany EBay for a very good price, prior to me buying the lights, I was in touch with a guy in Germany, who is able to to the change over and coding, so all worked out well, good drive on the autobahn for the first time, to a small town there.

The problem with used ones is some have white cloud marks on inside edge of the screen, and looks very visible when the sun shines on it, dealers have been replacing these screens in Germany.

After doing so much research, I only found command uk who were able to supply all parts and do the retrofit.

I initially opted for the used one, but the one they sourced also had the white cloud issue, and one never knows if the problem would get worse over time, the unit worked fine, but I bit the bullet, and asked them for a new one, and they sourced it from Germany, and changed it over.

Richard and his team at comand are great guys, and know their stuff.

Can’t pm as don’t have 30 post. So it was 2k for used, or 4K for new. Definitely looks much better, I was given 2020 screen, so those won’t have issues, which I referred to, the earlier ones did have issue, many reports on the German and US forums, read a post yesterday on here, someone had the same issue, his was MY2016 I think.

if go on the above, you will get an idea about the issues with the early screens

I drove a w205 facelift rental in the Netherlands and it had the digital instrument cluster same as the one in the photo above, really makes a difference, very nice.

Hi Markjay yes it makes a big difference to the interior, unfortunately when I was looking for a the w213, i didn’t want obsidian black as my previous w211 was that, so decided I wanted a change, and liked the cavansite blue, but couldn’t find one withe the digital screen, so had to make the compromise, and then decided to retrofit.

I think the 2018 or 2019 the screen came as standard, could be wrong. Premium plus definitely has it.

Yup, I really did like that dash....:

(And you will notice the car didn't have much mileage on it either.....)
