E220 CDI 2003 Sounds like nuts & bolts

Hope someone can help. My car sounds like nuts and bolts. also a delay with turbo charger kicking in when I need to get away at a London roundabout - before being rammed. Something else worth a mention. The fog lamp had the bulb cover within the sealed unit fall off. This is not deemed a fault of the lamp and costs over £100 to replace.

Noise: Could be MAF sensor, EGR valve, injection timing too advanced ( although that should give better power), knackered turbo, breaking up and blocked cat, knackered injectors.

Fog lamp is common but can be stripped and repaired if careful.

Calling all turbo experts..

Hi All,

I have a similar problem with my E220 CDI (2001).

It stutters when not under load (bit like a misfire), and has smoke to match.

So far I have replaced the MAF and EGR. The injectors are all performing according to the STAR machine.

So I think that the next port of call is the turbo. The Newbury stealership have suggested the valve on the underside of the turbo (actuator valve??) but when revved, I can see this working. I can also hear the turbo spinning up.

Could it be the valve on the underside, or does anyone here have any ideas.

Any input greatfully received.

Regards

Richard
