e220 w124 1995 estate
Help, I have a 1995 w124 e220 estate, my engine revs at idle, go up and down in a regular rhythm between 500 - 800rpm, in neutral, and almost stalls in reverse or drive, I have changed the lambda sensor, and the MAF Sensor, I have put in a new (second hand) throttle body to no avail, it seems that the idling flap control motor does not work to set the idle speed correctly, are there any other sensors I should be looking at? or any suggestion? would be greatfully recieved.

Perhaps your engine temperature sensor or air temperature sensor is faulty? Have a look at the spark plugs to see if the engine is running rich or weak. Might be an idea to change them if they are "getting on a bit" Make sure there are no inlet manifold leaks. Changed your fuel filter lately?

things to try

Hi Graeme. thanks for your suggestions, spark plugs are new, will try new temp sensors any idea where they are located? and where can I get part numbers from, to order parts, will also change fuel filter, will let you know if it solves the problem.
Best Regards Steve.

the inlet air temperature is item 5/8 depending on engine no likewise the coolant temperature sensor for the injection system 20/23 depending on engine number ( don't mix it up with the temperature gauge sensor) Best bet is to go to your local dealer with your chassis number. Be extremely careful when handling the engine wiring loom since the insulation can get very brittle on these with age. Êàòàëîã
