Dear All.

I've bee trying to get an E300td specialist near Harlow, Essex.
I've been battling with a fuel related issue on my E300td. I have tried everything, and I'm desperate for this car to go back On the road. I'm hoping there is someone near me, who can assist.
I'd be grateful if anyone can help with this one.

Thank you.

You'll find lots of threads on this forum about fuel systems problems on late W124 and early W210 300 diesels / turbo diesels.

Most of the problems are related to air leaking into the system making the engine hard or impossible to start. If this is your problem, do a search

Thanks Bolide.
I've tried replacing the fuel pipes, including seals, changing filter, prefilter, changed sov, done the delivery valve seals. I think, i need someone who has previously done work on a E300td.
Thanks Regbuser. I will try Paul Evans.

Any E300td enthusiasts around my area would be greatly appreciated, even to help with diagnosis, then i can do the work myself.

What is the problem?

As far as I'm aware Paul Evans is no longer at Burnt Mill. I think he's moved to another unit in Harlow.

Thanks Bolide.

Have you tried running it from a can and have you checked the tank strainer and plenum intake aren't blocked.

Are you running it on diesel, or vegetable oil?

Another thing to check is the lift pump working properly. It only uses a spring as the return and has a one way valve also, which could stick open.

Thanks everyone.

Nick - The whole thing started when I had some leaky delivery valves and would leave puddles of fuel when parked (embarrassing) so I researched on this forum on how to change the seals. At the same time I decided to change the plastic clear pipes.
The car would run but if parked overnight, I'd struggle to get it going again.
Each time I stopped the car, I'd see almost immediately an air bubble run back from the pre-filter towards the heater.
Eventually I replaces the black pipes, took down the tank and cleaned it.
Also replaced the sov valve with a good used one as well as the manual pump.
Last week I tried to change the Crank sensor as well but no luck.
I've now just given up.
I'd really want to keep the car as I prefer it to my CDI.
I would have eventually wanted to make a restoration, etc.
The car has now been parked for a couple of month.
I really don't know what to try next.

Everything in the fuel system must be looked at for the source of the leak. My local indy looked at one and recommended the fuel filter casting be changed. A leap of faith, definitely, but it cured the problem. The casting had gone porous

It shows that the things you assume can't be a problem can be a problem

Being methodical is the only way
