Sorry, need help again. I bought a w210 E class, 320 petrol, X reg, a few weeks ago. The car has been running really well with no problems.
Last night, I drove the car for about 20 motorway miles. I arrived home, parked up for about 4 hours, and now it refuses to start. It turns over with plenty of power in the battery, but it just won't fire.
I know it could be a number of things but was wondering if there was any common problem.

Quick update. I just went out to the car and it started first time and runs perfectly. The EML is now on though.
Just wondering if damp had got onto something last night as it was the first time I had left it out, and if my continuous cranking brought te EML on.

As above, CPS is common for a non-starting hot engine but get it read rather than throwing parts at it

CPS sensor a very good bet

What is the general price of a CPS sensor (Bosch I assume?) for this engine? I'm thinking to buy one handy for my W208 320, as a faulty CPS sensor seems to be a common fault in the M112 engine. Thanks

Not the same as your engine but on my W208 M111 Bosch crank sensor about £70 cam sensor £50. I fitted aftermarket parts for £32 and £27 respectively and they have been perfect

Go in Euro Car Parts or GSF websites and put in your reg, they are in the engine sensors section. I wouldn't expect pricing for yours to be too much different

Hope that helps

That's great, thanks. So both the crank and cam sensors need to be replaced together if their symptoms occur I take it?

Not necessarily with the M111 it's the cam sensor that's usually the culprit but not sure on your engine a cheap code reader would get you the fault code so you would know if it's cam or crank but I wouldn't waste money on both. Maybe do a search on here to see if others talk of sensor failures on this engine on most cars there is usually a common failing

Got it. I'm pretty sure its the CPS that's a common failure in the 320, as I'm sure BlackC55 mentioned that in his reply to my thread before I got the 208. I will go back and have a look. Thanks

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I am having the codes read on Monday and I will update then'

EML was off when I started the car yesterday and today. It's in for service at the moment and I will have the codes read at the same time.
