I am totaly new to this and I have fallen in love with a E320 54plate I would just like to know if the car I am buying is a V6 or the older engine with better MPG i think it's called in-line.

There is a very strong chance that it is the straight 6 Cylinder engine.
Where is it that you have seen the car? Do you have a link?

All V6 by that time.
Sorry correction :o :- there were still [inline] I6 versions till 2005- but I am not sure in which markets.

If it is a Diesel it is a straight six, if it is petrol it will be a V6 :thumb:

great.

Buying from Evans Halshaw. When did the Euro engine come in or is that the same engine.

sorry for the stupid questions

If I remember correct, early 2005.
The best way is to ask the engine size; if it's 3222cc it's the straight 6, if it's 3000cc it's the V6.:thumb:

The posters have all (but one) assumed we're talking about diesels. Have we established this yet? Justin is quite correct either way.

Jabba - petrol or diesel?

It's worth clarifying because I nearly bought a E320 by mistake, and only realised at the last minute (deposit already taken over the phone) that the tailgate appeared to be missing the CDI badges. Turned out there was a good reason for that...

I assumed we were talking diesel because the OP's profile says 54plate E320 CDi and also he referred to MPG..... And we all know you don't ask about MPG when buying a 6 cylinder petrol Mercedes

yes I was refering to a diesel car. And I have confirmed with the garage the engine size is 3222cc. So I can assume that this not the v6 engine.

thanks for all your help in this. :D

Hello firstly amazed the car isn't clean in the sales pictures....

However, I've recently bought my dads e320cdi estate s211 (same as the one your looking at but estate). He like it so much he kept it for the longest of any car he has had, regularly over 40mpg.

I'm enjoying not watch the fuel gauge drop with the revs as with my last car a ML350 petrol :)

The advert says cloth... Doesn't look it and don't think you could on an avant guard spec cloth?

Main thing drive it and check all electrics they are great mile munchers and do look classy.

yeah the pics don't do it justice at all. It had just come in when the pics where taken. It does have leather as well. I have already taken it for a test drive and thats why I am smitten. I have owned a massive range of cars Audi, Jag, VW etc but nothing compares to how this drives. The garage is checking the electrics so far they have found the heater that blows warm air into the car is'nt working and they are replacing it. Do you thinks its priced OK I have searched autotrader and can't find one cheaper with the same mileage

Hello the millage is quite low for age and will command a higher price. Main thing is if your happy with the deal and feel the car is right.

There will be cheaper, there will be ones with higher spec, but finding one that ticks all your boxes is what matters.

I'm enjoying mine at the moment

Just to add...

If you go for it try to get at least a years warranty as it's from a garage they should offer some deal. Check when next service and not is due and get them to do if if close. I'd ask for an mot even if reasonable recent as at least piece of mind for you.

Do you think you have 'bought' it in your head :)

Ticking all the boxes is impossible with my budget. I am planning on upgrading the audio unit to the dvd/sat nav one in the coming months. Which will give me 95% of my tick list. So very happy

:bannana:

Already well bought in my head. Paid deposit this afternoon. I have got 2 year warranty with the car had to pay extra £380 they want £500 but it covers all major mechanical failure or so it says. I take these with a pinch of salt. Good point about MOT and Service they said if it was within 6 months they would do both

Also to add it has a full MB service history. Bonus
