Hi, I have a 2001 E320CDi with the antique Nokia phone cradle mounted by the passenger footwell (to the left of the centre console) This is factory fitted & works fine with an antique Nokia phone but I want to use a bluetooth adapter - can anyone tell me if I can use something like the B6785877 HFP cradle?
cheers
Chris

Drat - I've just picked up a HFP cradle thinking it was the same as the Viseeo, now it's arrived I see it's nothing like it.
I was hoping I could perhaps replace the cradle with the HFP by plugging it in & hiding it in the centre console/glovebox (I haven't got the car at moment so can't see physically)
:(

A 2001 car would not have the UHI connector for the MB OEM BT HF adapter, not even the first W211 models had UHI.

As said above your only solution is to use the ViseeO MBU1000 which plugs into your fixed Nokia cradle and allows bluetooth connection to your mobile phone.

The exchangeable cradle system which the HPF cradle is for is only found in newer cars.

Thanks everyone for the help :)
from memory my phone is held in the adapter by the aerial & those visseoo adapters don't appear to have an aerial - will it stay in anyway & can it be mounted anywhere else other than passenger footwell?
cheers
Chris

I'd have thought so. As you say it's not like the phone will need the aeriel connection. How easy it is to do tihs I don't know. The glovebox is not that far away.

Is your intention to remove the console and place the cradle and the BT adapter to some other place? I would expect the BT connection working from the glove box too, it would be a lot of work to wire the cradle much further away.

There used to be a part that can be put to the cradle to make it able to hold the 6210/6310 type of a phone without an external helix antenna. I believe the part number is A203 820 07 51.

I wondered if there was enough wire to put the adapter in the centre armrest - assuming there is some way of getting the wires into it.
I just didn't want to get a Viseeo adapter & then have to leave it in full view when in the holder incase someone takes a shine to it when the car is empty. (seems pointless having automatic bluetooth connection & then having to put adapter into holder everytime you get in the car!)

A very valid point, I never thought of the adapter being left visible in the car because mine is hidden at the centre compartment.

I did not try to find out where the control unit is in your car and if the wiring would allow the cradle being moved to the centre console but I would assume it having this 10 pin connector that looks like an Ethernet network cable but has two more pins, you should be able to build an extension cable too (needs proper shielded wires for the audio signals).
