E320cdi Woes

How would he do that ?

Which one?

Port Glasgow, Carntyne, Clydebank, .....?

Clydebank/Yoker - Borthwick & Malloch

I know what everyone is saying regarding too much power not actually being enough, but in reality once in a 2litre plus car, you have the power to do most manouvers safely and swiftly and should be enough power under your foot to put a smile on your face.. I tend to obey and adhere to speed limits 90% of the time, and even in its reduced form, was more than ample for any need and want I had, just not in its limp home mode:rolleyes:. Bear in mind where I live folks, I have some of the best roads in the world on my door step, most cars will be great up here and put a smile on your face :D

However, its blindingly obvious that the car has never been 100% right since I have owned it, and that stems right back to the manner in which it has been maintained prior to my ownership, which IMHO does not bode well for its future.

Because the 7g box expects a full 221bhp and 369ft/lb torque and has not been recieving it, I suspect here has been the crux of my issues and complaints with the 7g, although every single one Ive driven has been crap but now mine might be a little less crap as it was by far the worst of the lot.

I will be undertaking a massive grand tour at the end of march incorporating all of the 1st forums grand tour, and the next tour in September. Next weekend I will nip through to Edinburgh, because of its new found power, I'll probably go far too quickly and get less than 30mpg.

One thing I noticed is this car has always been good on fuel, very good on fuel. I'll keep an eye on this and see how consumption improves or drops.

Always remember, it's only a car.

If we get the chance at the March GTG at Dirleton, would be interesting to compare our cars as I think the 7G in my current car is better than the previous 5G.

I'll take you out in it and me in yours.

I loved the 5g box, every one I drove from mine, to C270cdis, to I6 E320cdi and S500L's to CLS55amg's shifted so much better than mine and other 7g cars I've driven.

I looked at the stats for the BE C classes, both the 220 and 250cdi have better acceleration in the 5g forms. Says a lot.

I''ll not be driving my car for until next weekend, busy this weekend and not using it to go to work. If I experience any further problems I'll post back but fingers crossed, for my wallet, this is the last of the issues for a while. I'll be phoning the ibrox specialist to ask for re-imbursement for the costs incurred and to explain how he "almost" fixed my car for £1492.00 but not quite.

I told you my guy was good Stevie boy. Thank **** its fine now.

Excellent result albeit an expensive one.

Do you really think the manifold needed changing?

The v6s need to be serviced and repaired by people who know the car inside out as I fear that an easy solution for them is to replace parts rather than investigate and find the actual problem which soon becomes very financially draining.

There was £500 odd before that.

I'm best not working it out. Its done and that's the end of it, hopefully this will be the end of it until I have another car.

As you said - the car wasn't right when you got it. It sounds like some of that money might well have needed to be spent anyway. It's just unfortunate that it was a bit of a journey.

You now effectively have a 'new' car.

It feels new to be honest. Glad it's done.

I'm glad I had the manifold changed. My new fella reckoned it wasn't needed as u showed him the part that was taken off. However Olly says it cures the issue.

I called Ibrox today to explain the issue and that I wanted the incurred costs back. He said that he would have rather seen the car 1st (fair enough) and had the chance to fix it (fair enough) and was dissappointed I took it elsewhere. He said if I came back with the bill he would deduct it from a future account with him. Clever way of retaining business but I'm really not sure I want to give him my business, not with that car.

I'm not slating the Ibrox indie as clearly this is a simple oversight which does happen and he's looked after two of my cars but it's time for me to use this fella in Yoker which I have far more confidence in.

so to sum up, the problem was mostly the mechanic .. the car's fault, if it had been properly diagnosed would have been a relatively quick and inexpensive fix.

have faith in the 3 pointed STAR!

Still needed a new port motor and manifold though. Expensive enough. Daveys lot nearly fixed it, just not quite leading to another small fault.

Time for a shisha tonight and a tour later on. Btw I would urge you to sort accommodation for this years tour
