Hi All,
Me again, looking to buy a E500 2002 (chenged my mind about the CLK obviously)and seen this one with 112k miles, one owner, full mercedes history, silver, grey leather, sat nav, command and the guy claims the car is spotless and he is asking £6999! What do you all think? I tried to negotiate but he said he won't move a penny on this. I saw another with 46k for £8k but that was gone when I called so dont have that much choice left! what you all think? Thinking of going and buying it tomorrow or Sunday so your opinions are very welcome. Is 112k too high or as many people claim the car has just been run in with that mileage?

Thanks guys:bannana:

Any chance of seeing the advert , it's hard to tell about a car just describing it ...

Not so much engine wear, but for any car with over 100k miles, I would check bushes, drive shafts, gearbox and naturally rust.

Check to see what remedial work was done at the various services (brakes etc) and budget for wear and tear items not recently replaced.

Good luck.

Jeez .....

That is a LOT of car for the money !

Is that comand in the C class? looks strange, and dont big engines after 2006 carry a higher tax ved, not the proposed raise but already in place something like £400 ish:eek:
Ps like the e500 looks v nice worth a look at least.

This is not a V8, but much more modern, still under warranty, and under 20k miles and looks real value at £9.5k with all the toys!

I bet this car has a story behind it - pictures in the street - why not in the driveway of the sort of house that a newish C350 owner would live in - no mention of service history......I bet if you call the owner he is selling it for his uncle's grandmother.....and she has lost the service records....she has only had it 3 months blah blah blah.

'Fraid so! But it's only an extra £170 over the £230 which a lot of cars are liable for. So not too much over the year for all that extra power.;)

Quite possible! But worth a phone call if you are in the market, for a car 4 years younger and nearly 100k less miles!
And yes, all big engined cars like this (and my ML:( ) will be hit with the mega road tax, which is one reason the prices are currently so low.

Unfortunately I am not a fan of C class anyway so it wouldn't matter to me. There are so many dodgy adverts on autotrader offering fantastic value for money that it is almost scarey.

So do I take it that general feel is that if the car is what the guy says it is and condition is as he describes it then it is worth the asking price?

I am off to Bristol to see it tomorrow so hopefully it is worth it!

Its not that cheap... i sold one for a similar price last week..

But yes these V8's are a lot of car for the cash at the moment..

The car is fitted with a APS50 navigation system, not COMAND, it wont display a map. And if I were buying a 500e, id hold out for a better spec'ed one. This is missing memory seats and the panoramic roof, both of which are commonly found on e500.

I am also in the market at the moment for an E500, but will have to sell our Audi first as they px's that are on offer are way too low.

I have seen two lovely cars with AMG bodykits and pano roof one at £13k with 36k miles on a 52 plate and another at £16k for a 55 plate with around 30k miles.

So i'd say hand out for either a lower mileaged one or one with better spec.

if you like an e500,why dont you get a w124 e500.i know it is a bit old,but they produce the same 326bhp.in same time you willhave a rare classic.

sorry mate i forget. the w211 e500 it is even slower than w124 e500,which now is around 15 years old.

newer 211 E500 have the 5.5 liter 380 bhp engine .. quite rare though
