E500 or R500

Hi All
After a while away from MB (first family wagon was a C55 Estate), it's time to come back to the fold.
If anyone knows of an R500 (later engine) or E500 7 seater available, ideally with a tow bar (but I guess that could be added later), I'd love to hear about it.

that garage tend to deal on old SLs so they have good MB knowledge. It doesn't look that bad to me, of the 2 I prefer this I think.

I saw them both, and also prefer the R500 out of those two. However both have the earlier engine and I'm looking for the later one.
On the E-Class I was looking for something more like this

Be aware of E500 type V8 engines (M272/M273) because of the balance shaft issues:

Tempting! I did actually see one last week and inquired about it.
Never had a response and now it is gone.
It had royal owners (whatever that means), had 21k on the clock with every option and was £29k.
I can't see it being worth that, but inquired regardless - I presume someone thought it was worth that and it is now sold.

I feel a bit more tempted by a late E500 at the moment, as this will be the car I use most and I'm not sure I can get my head around driving an MPV as my main car - particularly when my better half already has an MPV!

Yes it does bug me that tow bars are out on them!!!!
