Has anyone seen the needle pass the 160mph on the clocks of a E55 AMG ?
I know the car can go faster just want to know if the needle has a stopper on the dial or does it go passed .

It stops once it hits 160, I had that frustration several times at VMax earlier this year just with no idea what speed you are doing until the timing lights!

Arrrr right ok cheers savman ......To be honest I was hopeing that was the case as I test run mine to see how this remap was doing and was dissapointed when it stopped at 160 but I felt the car still pulling .

Thanks for putting my mind at ease :bannana::thumb:

I thought they were limited to 155

Plenty of phone apps that keep going when the speedo stops as well as sat nav gps speed read outs :thumb:

When is the next Vmax and where is it held ?

You can register at VMax200.com they are invitation only and will contact you by email, the venue is also supposed to be kept secret but it's pretty easy to find it if you search. Will give you a clue it's in Leicestershire.

Yes, was in another members (JohnEBoy's - hope you don't mind me name dropping John) E55 at VMax at well in excess of that, and mine did more than 160 too (once I found some nerves :o)

Mines been delimited and remapped though, but SavMans is a far more powerful car than mine, and most. Am I misunderstanding something? I do tend to

You are spot on Tim, interestingly even 55K powered cars that were still limited recorded speeds great than 155. I am sure CT55 hit 161 mph.

Suspect the speedo has a significant error margin at high triple digit speeds.

Ah i see.

What does the limiter run off ?

Ah. Whoops. Just reread the OP and the mention of a needle stopper. Is it something to do with some cars having clocks that go up to 160mph and others that go up to 200mph?

If so, I feel a right berk!

Post 2004 (includes 2004 registered but classified as 2005 MY) have 200 mph speedo
Pre have 160 mph speedo

I was lucky enough to get hold of one although I am sure they will become easier to come back as more and more E55's start to be broken up when not economical to repair.

Forgot to add that mines delimited too was test running it today ........will use my nav next time . Was unsure if the needle actually passed 160 !!!

Dognammit! For some reason I thought it was only Australian ones with 160 clocks! Lord knows how I ended up with that notion. Think I told whichever mates who happened to be listening in the pub one night that it was the case too.

I'll find a spoon for my humble pie!:doh:

Cheers, Tim.

Tim - I would have thought the Australian ones would have 320 as they use Kilometers :D
