I have more or less decided the P Zero's on the rear of my E63 have to be replaced. Not only are they getting close to 3mm, they are smooth to the touch from the outside face to the centre tread. They are spinning up with just a touch of right foot, so I'm looking for new ones.

Goodyear Asymmetric 3's are my choice despite the 5's being newer, they are rated at 73Db against the 70Db of the 3's. They are both rated C for fuel econmy and A for wet grip.

After the positive review recently of Openeo, I searched for my size 285x30x19 rears and got a price of £156 each delivered

Pneus Online price them at £153 48 each (+£13 each fitting at my tyre place)

Value Tyres based in the UK list them at £198 42 fitted

Black Circles list the AS3's at £201 61 each fitted

MyTyres from Germany have them at £173 40 each + fitting

Camskill are £166 60 + fitting

Finally, Tyreleader from Germany ,who I hesitate to deal with again since I found they sell very old stock come in at £152 69 + fitting.

I think I'm going for Openeo unless anyone has had a bad experience buying tyres from this company.

Bought my Dunlop Sportmaxxx 19's from Openeo arrived in 2/3 days from somewhere in mid East France, very pleased only 68 dcb' and rim protection, might not be your cup of tea for your bi turbo but, good for me in my 458 lb ft torquey coupe. :thumb:

I had bad experience with Oponeo Roger - funny enough they sent me quite old tyres (around 2-3 years IIRC) that had been poorly stored (had gone grey/weathered all on one side) and I found their customer service to be non-existent.

Got a refund from PayPal in the end and then they were quick to contact me to arrange collection which took them ages to sort out. Never again!

Have used Tyreleader, mytyres, camskill, blackcircles - never had issues with any of those.

Also worth checking out Costco tyres - their fitting service is second to none and they can be excellent value when they have one of their regular promotions on (eg £50 off when you buy 2 of a particular brand). Likewise eBay when they have their 10/15% off days (blackcircles/mytyres etc sell on eBay anyway, another 15% off can be great value!)

^ Hmmm. Good to know Will.
Someone on the "other side" has stated F1 Autocentres will price match online prices and charge £50 to fit all 4. (£25 to fit 2 ?)
I have one locally so will call in and see what's what.

I'll also see of my tyrefitter can get close to Openeo's price. If he can he'll get the order. He'd be fitting them anyway;)

Unfortunately, no Costco around my neck of the woods but I'll look online and see what they can do. Same for Asda tyres who I have heard good things about.

Re: F1 Autocentres, I've used the Derby branch for 20 years or so for tyres, brakes, MOTs etc. Always found them to be straight-up no BS. For tyres they always price me for supply and fit. And they haven't scraped an alloy yet.
There have been times when the manager hasn't been able to match a price so I've bought elsewhere without hard feelings.

My card became subject to fraud following use on black circles so I am staying away. Not sure if it was black circles or the fitting garage.

Had tyres from Oponeo that came 3 years old, wasnt an issue that time as car get some miles and tyres would wear out before time out.Used Black circles without issue 2 or 3 times, now i have a frank discussion with my local tyre house,an independant and we get same or very close as long as i leave car with him so he can squeeze it in. Its a very busy workshop.

got my goodyear asymmetrical 3 v recently from camskill, no problems at all with them.

When I owned the SLK I bought tyers from Asda and included in the price was fitting at Halfords, I didn't have to collect them, they told me when to take the car to my local Halfords and they fitted them. Made a good job of it too.

I recently bought a set of Michellin PS4S from Asda tyres and then had a discount code for buying 4 at the same time. I got these delivered and fitted by my local fitter.

Initially i was skeptical about ordering from Asda tyres as they were beating everyone that you have listed by a good margin. However the date stamps of the tyres were as new as could be and they were delivered by DPD which i think is great.

I reckon bite the bullet and go with your gut!

Been using Hankooks for nearly two years, very impressed although my E220 diesel (!AMG!) might be a bit more demanding than yours.....

Still spin up though (on a bit of frost)

I've used a couple of sets of Michelin PS4 and PS4S. They are the best all round high performance sports tyres I have come across for the UK climate. Make a PZero look silly in the UK.

Neither Cosco, Asda or F1 can match Openeo or Pneus prices.
Maybe older stock at a reduced price?
My fitter can't get close to the best quotes either:(
As I doubt whatever I put on will last much more than a year or so, older tyres shouldn't be an issue.

The 5’s are only £3 more so as they are newer and likely to be 2019 production, I’d edge towards these, even though the noise rating is slightly higher. The new Goodyear F1 Supersports are only £190 so may be worth trying also?

Did you have a look at Nankangs why any chance?

I had them once on an E280 and found they wore out very quickly.
I believe there are better budget tyres on the market now although Nankang themselves may have progressed equally.

I have more or less set my sights on Goodyear simply as they were so good on my E55.

Good call Jules. With resonator gone, the Db difference between 3's and 5's won't be heard anyway:D
And I would hope that 5's are an improvement on 3's through newer tech anyway.

I'm going to leave them until the beginning of the New Year anyway. Too much going on with other things and really cold weather isn't forecast for my part of the country for the rest of the year. I think thats when the P Zero's are at their worst.

I tend to use Asda tyres as I can get 10% off so usually comes out cheapest. They have become stricter though as they had a lot of employees abusing the discount code so you now have to call up to get the code and it expires after 2 weeks. If you have a family member who works there, it's worth a shot.

Hi , my local tyre now refuses to fit tyres from a third party.

The reason is : he had a new tyre fail on the tyre fitting machine and the agro he received from the customer was beyond belief.

Ideal time for new tyres is to combine with a wheel refurb - that way you’re effectively not paying anything for fitting - or take the cost of fitting off the wheel refurb cost ;)

I’ve found wheel refurb places tend to take care of your wheels when fitting tyres, which sadly isn’t always the case with many of the fast fit places.
