Easy repair?

Bits for it would be so expensive wouldn't they ...

I could just imagine popping into MB Brentford ... ' Yes, i need a bonnet and two new wings for a Maybach ' ...

'Yes sir, that will be a hundred grand please .....'

Why has the insurance company written it off and not elected to repair it ?

Bumper £1459

Grille £1438

Headlight £2330

Not *that* much more than s-class parts...

Ah , been doing your homework Nick ? ;)

Seems reasonable then ...... though they would be much more than that ...

Still have to ask yourself why it was scrapped though and not repaired if the bits are that cheap ?

It's still $150000 for a damaged car, and I would imagine that they depreciate like a lead balloon?

I can't decide if they're nice looking or just blinged up monsters....

Pound is very strong against the dollar though at the moment ..... ;)

Blinged up monsters ...... give me a nice S65 anyday .....

Plus imagine all the electrical problems they'll be on the Maybach a few years down the line...

Question is - why didn't the airbags blow? I can't imagine that that much damage was done at 15-20mph???

I suppose each claim is judged on its merits but I have heard of a couple of US owners of 211's having their cars wrote off with similar, or less severe damage simply because they INSISTED that the new paint be exactly the same as the rest of the car. Later models of the 211nano technology paint. The owners quite rightly in my opinion insisted that when the car is repaired the bodyshop uses the same type of paint.

There is no problem matching the EXACT colour, but I have yet to hear of any bodyshop that genuinely applies this top coat according to the manufacturers stipulations. If the Maybach uses this type of paint then perhaps the owner was a street wise person that demanded the same thing? I note the light cluster is identical to the new S-class. Is there a market in the UK for this type of vehicle? I fully accept there might be a few in the big cities but in general this type of car has had its day. I have NEVER seen a Maybach or new style Rolls Royce.

Down yer tis not noted fur its posh cars. Us simple minded folk tends to ave ee more basic motor moe-bill. Us highways is not wide enuff fur big tractors let alone they posh limosines. Dual carriageways be country lanes wiv grass verges growing in the middle of 'em

Merry Christmas everyone

Why should they have done?

Airbags go off only when they are needed, good job aswell.

They may save your lifes but doing so will provide you with a broken nose or worse!

Also, an airbag going off makes the car useless/worthless.

The amout of damage caused in the pictures above isnt at all life threatening IMO

There sure is a market in the UK. Around London you will see quite a few Maybachs & Rolls Phantoms on a regular basis. I see Phantoms and Maybachs pretty often and that's outside of the City.

Right about depreciation though, wonder what sort of 'value' these things will have in the future...

If you can afford to buy one, you're not the sort of person who worries about depreciation!!!

is it? Looks different to me!

And yes there certianly is, have seen these about london on many occasions..

I accept that a few are seen in the big cities and sadly politicans tend to think that is where life begins and ends. For vehicles to survive they need a decent sized market. If you live in an area where there are so called lots, then how many times do you see the same vehicle?

How many dealers nationwide are Maybach suppliers? How many dealers nationwide have the equipment to deal with these vehicles?
Where is the nearest Maybach dealer to Torquay?
Similarly where is the nearest Rolls Royce dealership?

Yes it is basically a car with four doors a boot, engine etc, but I guarantee a normal Mercedes-Benz dealer would cringe if I turned up to have my 62 foot long :D :D car serviced and perhaps a few problems with the electronics.

I accept the rear lights might not be EXACTLY the same as an S-class, but the instant I saw that picture those rear lights screamed S-class.

John
