Ebay W124 AMG Estate now on Pistonheads

Was that meant to sound as good as it didn't ? :dk:

I have a feeling (but it is just that until confirmed) that this car has had the wiring harness replaced and a complete top end rebuild (possibly a full rebuild).

It's not meant to sound bad - just helping to piece together the history of the car.

I recognised the car the moment I saw the images.

Chaz knows what he's doing with these cars - they are a bit of a passion with him like thay are for Jaymanek.

Wiring loom on the early M104?!!!

Yes its had a couple of head jobs, last one was a while back in the 90's using proper AMG gaskets etc, the cost was £3K back then. I have all the documentation.
Its just had to have the timing variator replaced too, over 2K cost im lead to believe.

Duh - dont you guys know me yet? Aero 1's already at the refurbers and Recaro Classics in process.

I think I counted three cylinder head gaskets in the history when I saw it three years ago

It does run a little hot when stuck in traffic but never in the red... from experience all W124's are like this? My 190E is the same...

It would have had those wheels originally so id bet the spacer kit is already in place.

Probably, check the rear bodywork to see if it's had the cut made and the extra metal welded in, regardless it's a stunning car :thumb:

Jay:Who's triming your recaro's and how much?

Well I may have to get them from Germany, there is only one supplier I know that keeps a good stock of the seats and adaptors but they wont be cheap at all.

Is that the Lena shop people? How much though and what if you buy two sets???

If you can bag a mega cheap set of classics that require a refurb (I think there was such a set for sale on this forum a few months back) you are more than welcome to pop over to mine the next time your in West London (Ie;wife suit/saree shopping in southall!) to see how D:class got on with my set....

Yes thats them and they keep all the Mercedes colours in stock as well as the recaro adaptors.

The problem is I havent come across any cheap sets of Recaro C's in years. Even if they need a retrim they fetch £800+ which doesnt make sense as a retrim will cost a few hundred due to the amount of leather those thing eat up.

If anyone knows of any please let me know now!

The Recaros you really want are the CSE's.

Yeh but again, sooo rare...

I got lucky with Recaros last time, managed to find a complete car with them in for next to nothing!

If anyone knows of any please let me know now!

Jay, ask Dash of the member that sold him his set of Recaro's.... He later had a second set for sale for around the £400 mark.... dont know if he sold them... cant remember his name either....Im sure Dash will know!:)

Got my adaptors from ebay.de for 130Euro's......

Dee:The ones he listed later were black leather and he wanted £700
They'd be good for someone with black interior car though

Recaro's do come up on the bay sometimes. I was lucky this year to grab a drivers ideal c first which had seen hardly any use for a £100, and then a pair of ideal c's a bit more wear for about £200 so I have a pair to trim and one for spare parts, foams air bladder pump, etc. Just keep them eyes peeled there just like them rare hens teeth AMG first gen driving lights which I scooped for £12 boxed :-)
All on the U.K. site so cheap postage as well.
