Right , so I sold my two spare wheels on Ebay ...

So i thought ....

I ring the guy today to say , ' when are you coming to pick them up ? '

He says ' Oh , we're in Torquay , we would normally just send a courier... can you box them up for us  '

I say , ' Did you not manage to understand the part of the listing that says Cash on Collection ? '

He says ' Oh, we're a company that bids on loads of wheels each day , we wouldn't be able to pay cash on collection anyway , do you have a paypal address ?'

I say ' It quite clearly states Cash on collection , not paypal , not cheque, but you give me cash when you come to pick them up '

I am absolutely fuming , and just about to tell them to Foxtrot Oscar ....

What is it with these people ?

The buyer's not Glojo is it????:D

It sounds like mikethemin....a bit sneaky that.
Tell them to do a bank transfer so you don't get the charges or add 3% to the value for PP.

and that you'll box them up for a £10 fee.

What an Eejit

Do you think I am within my rights , if they haven't contacted me by the end of today to offer them to the next highest bidder , or relist them ?

I said to them , do your couriers collect in the evening or weekends ?

They say , No ...

I say , So, you expect me to take time off work to be there when the courier arrives ? are you having a laugh ?

I accept that they will probably neg me , but i will ruin their 100% record too ..

Or am I overreacting ?

How inconsiderate! And no apology it would seem! I would charge them postage plus a bit more for your inconvenience and just get rid unless you can bothered to relist and try and reclaim listing fees etc.

The chap who owns it is called Ray ....

Wheel Power Devon ....

Do you know them ?

I can send the next highest bidder a second chance offer , he was only two quid behind , but he's in Norfolk , i don't want the same runaround ....

He says ' Oh , we're in Torquay

Get John to go and visit them with the new T-model, that should scare them into sorting it out

I think they are very unreasonable and inconsiderate. Surely it's their problem if they have bid and won to make sure they comply with your requirements re payment etc, not the other way aournd. They sure can't expect you to take time off.

If I were you I would not give them the wheels unless you have the dosh...

a lot of people do that because items with collection only fetch lower prices so they take advantage of that . YOu could cancel the shole transaction , I would report it to ebay

Agreed..
Just offer them to the next bidder and tell ebay that ray couldn't complete due to not complying with the information in the listing.

I think your guy will come from Norfolk, that's no too far.

Or you could take their word that they misread the listing and file an Unpaid Item dispute, you can do that here , there is then an option where the seller and buyer mutually agree not to proceed with the transaction and then the seller gets their listing fees back and the buyer doesn't get an unpaid item strike.

You can relist the wheels with the CASH on Collection bit a little bigger and see if another member of the Great Unwashed British Public try your patience again...

All that gets lost is a little pride and few electrons...

I don't know him per se, but when I lived down that way as teen he was the local wheel man.

Now located in Lymington road if I remember correctly.

He always was a bit "dodgy".... I'd send "John the Negotiator" down there if I were you!

Good luck.

Simon

If you stated cash on collection and collection only then that's that.

Offer them to the next bidder.

Either that or just weigh them in, scrap alloy wheels can be worth up to £1200 a tonne...and ebay seems to be a mecca for loons these days.

I've just sold some wheels to this guy too. I did advise that he can arrange his own collection (courier or other) as there is usually someone at the collection address during the day. However, I did warn him that other than labelling them up, they won't be packaged/boxed, just as they come.
BTW, payment was made very quickly through Paypal as it was easier for me that way. I'll let you know what happens!

Get him to pay by paypal and then he can sort out picking them up...not really your fault if he's unable to come at a convenient time ;) :p

Only kidding, seriously Howard I'd be tempted to file an unpaid item form and either offer them to the next bidder or relist them.

Don't get carried away with the -ve feedback unless you have to, it rarely achieves much :(

Will

2 possible options:- get them to collect from your work address-I assume someones on duty there all the time?? If you havnt got a paypal account can you use someone else's account you trust to receive the payment. Either way I wouldnt part with the wheels until you see the "colour of money"

Work address is an island in the middle of the Thames, no vehicle access ... ;)

Plus I don't see why I should hoof the wheels around because they can't read ...

I offered them to the next highest bidder, he's coming on Sunday ....

Nice suspension bridge though, I used to have picnics underneath it when I was a kiddie :D
