2002 c320 petrol
Hi folks. I've just purchased a w203 c320 petrol 2002 plate. Car is lovely to drive but with all old cars they have their problems. Basically my drivers side electric seat will move but the controls are all wrong. I'll use the switch to move the seat foward and the back will tilt? I'll try and tilt the seat back and it moves up. The previous owner sent it to mercedes to have the ignition/key barrel changed and it came back with this problem. Any advice would be brilliant. Many thanks, Dave.

Be careful to not go too far as the limits will be ignored.
Are you sure these are original as it sound like they are connected reverse polarity?
Othr than that it confuses me, sorry.

Perhaps the coding in the seat module is wrong, strange things can happen to module coding when doing things with the EIS, typically, a Star session would be beneficial, the seat module could just need initialised. Sounds as though the previous owner should have followed this up with the dealer, maybe you could if a warranty for the EIS work still applies, but don't hold your breath on that one.

Someone has put a different seat switch in 100% had the same issue with Mine!! Original switch didn't work, so I thought any would work but had the same issue as you!! Soon as I got the right one(part number) it works perfectly again, you will need to know the original switch number..

The Big Un could well be right, although that wouldn't tie in with what the seller told you, but that wouldn't be a first. If the switch is indeed the wrong switch, but it's an okay match, you could alter the wiring to make it work the correct parts on the seat. Maybe you could try the passenger switch to check driver seat operation just to rule out anything else. Otherwise, a new or used switch.
