While trying to view a Flash website recently, was given the message I do not have the latest version of Flash installed, or Java script was not enabled.

Have downloaded the latest version of Flash, but still no Flash website? How do I enable Java script??

cheers,

From Internet Explorer, open the Tools menu, then Internet Options..., and then the Security tab.

Does it say which level of security settings are being used, eg Medium, High?

Select Custom... and then scroll down the list to Scripting, and check that Active Scripting is set to 'Enable'.

Or consider changing it instead to 'Prompt' so your browser warns you when sites try to do this without your knowledge.

(Depends how often you have active scripting running on your PC it can be annoying if it happens often)

Thanks for that, have made sure Active Scripting isenabled but still cant view anything on YouTube??

Any more suggestions??

Check you have the latest version of the Java runtime engine here
Click on 'Verify Installation'

Check here to make sure you have both the ActiveX plug-ins for Flash and Shockwave player. If you get prompted for installation then don't install the Google Toolbar unless you really want one!

Yes, Java confirms my installation is OK, and I have re-downloaded Flash from the official website, but youtube still gives me this error message:

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Click here to get the latest flash player.

Flash works OK on my computer, as I have a couple of Flash games!

Do you have to be a member of youtube to be able to view the videos?

No. There must be a security setting on your PC that is preventing this.

If you have a software firewall try switching it off just while you test the You Tube site. If you can see the videos then you need to set the youTube domain as an exeption in your firewall settings.
