Read on here not to get a steam clean on the engine bay due to electronics etc.

So what's the best way to go about sprucing up an engine then?

Also have heard about getting better insulation padding for the bonnet and engine bay. Any ideas where to get from and the cost?

Cheers

I use engine degreaser and a hose pipe never had any probs to date touch wood. The padding I got from a dealer for about £28 roughly.

Thanks for info pluggers

Just any old de-greaser form Halfords??

Can I do it with a bucket and sponge typr thing?

Ordered a hood padding from stealers £31.20 plus vat.

asked how many fasteners I needed too - doesn't say on his system, so gone with 10 @ 22p each?? How many fasteners are there required - do you know?

BTW - looked at your gallery - nice car mate! Where did you get the engine and gearbox undershield from? Does that help noise too? Got any part no's or costs for that also?

Cheers

I think its 4 fasterners needed - You should have 2 already if you have small bonnet liner already fitted.
A mate of mine said he used washing powder in a spray bottle and just sprayed his engine bay and hosed it off and it came up a treat - Just a degreaser really.

The engine degreaser came as a two pack. One was a degreaser the other was a detailer that is sprayed on to give it some shine.I cant for the life of me find the kit I bought but have found a link to the detailer.I did buy it from halfords but couldn,t find it on their website.heres a link.CD2 cleaner
I sprayed the degeaser on the engine and worked it with an old paint brush which worked well.

For the padding only 4 clips were needed cus I didn't have any insulation on the bonnet,Be prepared to fit it at the dealers as its quite big(I did as it was soooo much easier than putting it on the back seats). And the undershields I got from the scrappy off an estate for £20 all in.
