Engine cuts out

Hi

A friend of mine is having a problem with his 2001 C270 cdi, when he applies a certain degree of pressure on the accelerator the car just cuts out.

He gets the following message on the dash:

EL. Power Control

Visit Workshop

EPC

Hi local garage thought that it was the MAS, this was changed but it wasn't the problem.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

I would have said CPS too but the problem only seems to occur when he works the car a bit over a certain point and then it cuts out.

After it cuts out does it start straight up again? If CPS is the fault it shouldnt start up again straight away. If it does start up again straight away i would be looking at fuel starvation maybe, need more details.

The CPS fails when it gets hot and cuts the signal to the ecu leading to the car cutting out. But you will only be able to start the car again once it cools.

Firstly i would get the fault codes read and see what they say.

I would be looking more on the fuel side of things.

When was the last time it had the fuel filter changed as i have seen these get blocked up and cause this sort of problem
