Car - 1998 E320 , 64000 miles.
For the last 18 months I have had an irritating fault with my vehicle.
Every couple of weeks or so , when coming to a halt, the engine would die on me. Car would immediately restart and there would be no more problems for a week or more . Having read the forum I replaced the crank position sensor ( bought genuine Bosch sensor). Month later same fault!
Funnily enough fault had not happen for past 5 months, until yesterday. On this occasion I had driven around 3 miles to shop at Asda. Left the shop and started to drive out of the carpark when engine cut-out. This time engine would fire every time I turned key but almost immediately die. This went on for around 5 minutes and gradually engine ran a little longer. Eventually I could rev engine and was able to drive home without further incident.
Never had a fault light come up. Is this fault likely to produce a "pending fault code?.
Starting to suspect intermittent electrical fault - bad connector maybe.
If anyone has any thoughts I would be most grateful of your input.
Thanks, Mike
