So the honeymoon period with the C220, purchased less than two weeks ago, was brought to an abrupt end on Tuesday night. Driving home from town after work and the dreaded engine management light flashes up on the dash! Gutted, I've had previous with this issue on my previous car and it ended up costing me a new Nox sensor (£350+).

Anyways, yesterday morning I took the car to Mastertech Assist (Droylsden, Greater Manchester), my local independent Mercedes specialist who ran the diagnostics and found a 'stored' fault relating to an O2 sensor upstream of the catalytic converter. Was told that this meant the fault was not affecting the car and that once the code was cleared it should stay off...the plot thickens...driving home from work again, the bleeding light flashes up again :fail

The car is under warranty so rang the dealer today where I purchased the car from to explain the situation. Surprisingly there was very little resistance over the phone and I'm currently awaiting a call back to say when he (or his 'Mercedes guy' as he put it) will be available to have the sensor replaced.

Anyone else had this issue before? Will a simple sensor replacement be the end of the problem or will there be more woe :dk:

Will find out soon enough!

I had the light come on a few weeks ago, but it wasn't the O2 sensor. My local dealer first diagnosed it as a faulty knock sensor, but after replacement said it was a faulty temperature sensor and replaced that. It's been fine since (where's the "touch wood" smilie?)

Mine has come on this morning on the 50mile commute to work. Booked in tomorrow with the local main dealer.

To have a moan - I have never known a approved used car warranty like it. My local dealer will charge me £95 to look at the problem (they will check with the supplying dealer to make sure they pick up the charge/approve)???

what was code please?
mine comes one at times as well and have had both sensors changed but not =the nox one and not like sound of the cost!

Neil

you have 3months after buying a car and need to take it back to where bought it and will be free. If you take elsewhere, place who sold don't have to do anything. Sometimes they may be nice and assist if you call and explain situation before.

Mine was 'dpf broken' and cost around £1300 to repair. Luckly covered by mercedes used car warranty

thanks and ouch! but lucky was inside 3months and all done for free
