Hi all, im getting the above light come on now and again on my e240, and ive noticed that just this week the car is getting a little hotter than it usealy does, do you think the light could be the thermostate gone, i ran it hot and popped the bonnet and the fan dident come on either

Many Thanks in advance
Brent

I think you need to have the engine codes read, preferably using STAR but if not available than any ODBII code reader...

Hi
I had a similar problem on my vehicle and was told the auxiliary fan had packed in.
mmm

As momomo said...

If you can not find an MB specialist nearby, try any garage - most will have some sort of diagnostic equipment that can read engine codes. But ideally it will be an MB specialst who has the STAR equipment, as it can read more codes (the generic code readers only read standard engine codes but not any MB-specific ones).

Alternatively, you could invest in a code reader - I recommend the Autel MaxiDiag EU702, which costs around £150-£170:

Autel

It will pay for itself if you intend to keep the car for the longer term.

when i first got the car it sat half way, now its going above, plus i cant see the fan cutting in mate

Your best bet is to get the codes read as mentioned further up the thread.

The fan cuts in at 100.
