engine misfire,, suggestions,, please,

car starts and runs ok but theres a misfire throughout the rev range,, going to look at the obvious culprits leads etc,, just wondering if there is anything not so obvious connected with the ignition system i should look at,, i've changed the plugs but the miss is still there,,
 
try the ht leads, dist. cap and rotor arm.
 
Had a similar problem on mine, i changed the spark plug end of the HT leads, the engine response is much better, but i sill have a slight mis when its idling.
 
I had a slight misfire on my TVR (Rover V8) for a while, changed the leads and dizzy cap, coil, loads of things. Eventually turned out to be a badly worn follower on the cam (cylinder 1).
 
No Distributer

This model has no distributor! It has 2 ignition coils mounted under the inlet manifold. Gets its timing from a sensor on the flywheel I think. The ignition coils on this engine are known to fail. Best to replace both if one is faulty. They can also cause problems in their wiring loom and ultimately damage the ECU if ignored so best to get sorted. Assuming you have checked the obvious-- plug leads and plugs, then best to get the car plugged into an engine analyser to check where the problem is before further damage occurs. A good Bosch specialist centre should be cheaper than a main dealer. ECP list the coils at £45+vat if its them.

"coils known to fail on this engine",, makes you wonder why mb didnt use parts that were up to the job,, penny-pinching.?,, bad design.?,,

i've changed the plugs,, i'll try a new set of leads,, see how it goes,,
