First. Do I have to remove a section of the exhaust ?

Secondly. How can you tell the difference between drivers and passenger side. I have the new ones, and the only difference I can see is that one has a rubber cover

No difference and should take about an hour plus
also no exhaust removal needed

I'm driving it later. I will let you know. But I have noticed a lot of movement on my air box. And my engine covers are rattling. I thing I need some rubber bushes.

Strange. The car now has a speed related droning.
Think it's not related. Hope it's a simple wheel bearing

I had odd noises after local garage installed cheapo engine mounts. They lasted 3 years (original 17 years) and have now been changed for MB parts.

Hope that's not the case for you.

Best of luck.

Not that kind of sound ray. Noticed a lot of marks recently on my wheels. Like liquid is coming from the centre cap and covering the wheel. Spin dryer effect

I changed the bearings a while back and used cheap standard GTX grease.

Think I might have a dry brearing now. Will investigate this week.

Oh Dear... You need proper grease for those... Green fluo type...
Ask Bren at Wunderpartz, he can supply you the bearings and the proper grease.

You need to properly pack the bearings too with the proper grease and not tight them too much.

Hope the shaft is OK too as it can be scored :(

The High Melting Point grease has to be applied by weight; to different areas
such as the inner race and another amount by weight in hub cap etc .

You need to let experienced professionals do the job OR get proper workshop type instructions.

Mercedes sell the grease in tubes which is already weighted sufficient for the job of each bearing.

Stuff like this has to be taken seriously, as a seized front wheel on one side
of car at 70 mph on motorway, would not be fun for anyone in your vicinity.

There are increasing calls from 'on high' to ban 'amateurs' from repairing own cars,
and I guess persons such as yourself are doing others (that want to do the job properly)
no favours, with regard to those calls.

I have used motor factor bearings on my father's W210 with Mercedes grease... No problems so far.

At least it's a simple wheel bearing replacement.

Call to ban Armatures??

Why are you posting on a forum then you fool ?

Christ. Some people.

Nothing constructive to say. Do one !

Ok. All done and repaired. But I have ESP ABS faults. Think I might have disturbed a wheel sensor.
Think my anti tamper wheel nut adaptor has seen better days.
