hi all im new to the forum. I love my c280 despite it being 14 yrs old it puts a smile on my face and manages to show a lot of newer cars up. but recently im encountered a few niggling problems. problem no1. the oil pressure and coolant pressure light comes on. and the rev counter goes dead at the same. but I can still rev and accelerate. the oil and coolant levels are fine. could this be a electrical gremlin or could it be a sensor problem ?

problem no2.
my starter motor sticks from time to time. advice on this please.
and finally problem no3.

when im driving after a few miles. I get a message on the dash with the word hi flashing at me. again engine oil level fine as its between half and 3/4 full. so it has me baffled. any ideas.

all advice apprieciated thank you

Starter motor sounds like its on its way out.
I reckon your oil level sender is on its way out.
What do you mean by coolant pressure????

gremlins

hi. thank you for your advice. I will look into all of those. and I meant coolant low level and oil low level lights on dash come on.

my last 202 had a problem that unless BOTH windscreen squirty and engine water were full, it brought up both lights. so - if the squirty was low, it would suggest that engine water was low - dunno why, but thought it might help

They're wired in such a way that either / both lights can come on if one of the sensors is faulty. My mate has exactly the same problem with his 202. Very silly design if you ask me.

you should be able to get an exchange motor from Eurocarparts for a little over £100 [ exchange send back your old one]--- the Lucas branded rebuilt ones are usually Valeo or Bosch that have been refurbished. There's also the forum 25/30 % discount.

fitment of oil level sender

hi all. how difficult are these oil level senders to fit. can they be fitted at home D.I.Y. style. and if it can be fitted at home where is it located ? or is it going to be a garage job ?
