Engine Remap problems?

i recently had my engine remapped by angel tuning (using tints n tweaks in ashington)

now as some of you will know i've had some problems with diesel getting into the engine oil, one high pressure pump later and it's doing it again... cue next week in the garage having the injectors tested, but phil (staithes garage, and all round top bloke) also insists that it could be the remap causing the problem, now i can't remember if i was getting the reduce oil error message before i had the remap done if i'm honest, but i'm curious to know if it's possible that the remap COULD be causing the issues.

does anyone have any idea on this?

Yes remaps can cause problems of this nature due to the higher fuel pressures on the common rail asscociated with the remap, however this only usually occurs when the car has been mapped beyond what are considered safe limits and if it's your 220 CDi you are talking about then the power and torque limits are as follows.

208 bhp & 500 Nm torque

Anything beyond that and you will indeed start to have problems.

Hope that helps

so how easy is it to reset back to standard then? i'm sure that the reduce engine oil problem was before the remap, but i'm not 100% on that, so i'll see whats said next week but i'm seriously considering dumping the remap, although i know they didn't remap it past the above limits!

Dead Easy you need to get whoever remapped the car to reload the original map either that or take the car to a MB dealer or good Indie and have the ECU flashed.

.
Which engine, OM611 or 646 ?

I don´t think, that remapping has anything to do with your problem.
Injector leak.
High pressure pump leak.
In OM611 there is also fuelpump in front of engine block, it can leak also.
There is some kind of fuel-cooler also in there, could that mix fuel/oil.

No fuel pressure increase is needed or using in "ordinary" remapping.
If does -> must ask before about it for the customer - breaking risk is so far more higher.

Have a word the Angel Tuning - they remap on a conservative basis ..so would be surprised if it is this but they will revert to standard if you want.

like i said in my OP i'm pretty sure i had the problem BEFORE the remap, i might add they remapped my dads 203 the same day and his has been fine, so i'm more inclined to think that the problem was preexisting.

just nice to know that i can get it reset if need be

I had mine mapped by angel and its spot on.... defo a problem perhaps exacerbated by the map but not purely caused by it.

turns out i needed to change the pre diesel pump, high pressure pump and injectors 2,3 and 4

remap had nothing to do with it, just really didn't help the situation... running like a dream again!
